The new Titon game mode - Interesting idea, new game modes in FPS are fairly rare, usually death-match or conquest with some king of the hill and capture the flag... If it works and catches on it could be revolutionary...
...
I dont really think its a new "mode" per say. The titon is the name of the spaceship. You must destroy the spaceship to win the game, or IE, the spawners from the spaceship must destroy you..........whomever does so, wins. Hardly anything revolutionary.
You want revolutionary?
Go back to the original Unreal Tournament. IE: 5 years ago. (going on 6 years ago)
Assault mode. You had to do 3 to 7 consecutive objectives, in order to reach a final objective in which you had to touch with your body, at the end, to win the match. All while the other team tried to stop you. That was revolutionary, although for some reason alot of FPS didnt take notice.
Epic and GT are revolutionary in themselves. If you gotta copy someone, IE: Dice's version of Quake Wars, Enemy Territory ala, 2142, they shoulda copied unreal tournament stuff.
OH.......am i gonna buy it? Nah. Im into the bf series because of what it has been. IE: war that you can relate to be it past or present. Cant really relate the BF series with mechs. I mean, i never played mech warrior, because i have no intrest in that type of thing.
There are WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY to many games out there in different genres and what not, for me to get excitted about quakewars, i mean, 2142. Besides it is of my opinion, that BF2 now, is being a beta for 2142. Thats my opinion. I mean, there are a ton of fixes bf2 needs, that seem relatively simple in my mind. YOu think im gonna go buy a 50 dollar game, that has a red tag bug?? lol. nah.

From what I have read there is more too it then that... Appearantly there will be points on the ground like current flags. If you take a point and hold it for 2 minutes the missile silo at the point will shoot a missle at the opposing teams "titan". After X number of hits the Titans shield will go down which will allow for troops to enter and proceed to blow up X number of control panels which when all destroyed will bring the Titan down for the win.
The thing that peaks my interest in the titan mode is what seems to be a fairly big gameplay change during one battle. One moment you are fighting for points in open ground ala bf2. The next you are fighting close quarters to attack/defend a titan...
UT assault mode sounds interesting, and it really is too bad it didn't catch on, sounds like fun. Another fun gameplay aspect, return to castle wolfenstein tried to do something similar with objective based modes. Titan could be a lame mode and justifiably be ignored. Or it could be great fun... only the game will tell.
No I will not. The only reason I gravitate towards games like CSS and BF2 are because they are quasi-realistic. Laser beams and mechs? No thanks. I played at E3 and can tell you it's nothing more than a mod on the BF2 engine. If it were a new engine I might consider it, but future games are just dumb. You mean to tell me the engineers of the future had time to design and build a system to launch pods onto a ship before the enemy realized that if they hovered a few hundred yards higher the pods wouldnt reach? Idiotic. Among other things... Who thinks war will actually be like this in the future?
Shooty, You obviously havent read into BF2142, the game wont be like Star Wars with lasers, it will have guns.. with bullets.
Yeah yeah. I played it at E3. I didn't mean the whole laser beams thing literally...confusing I know. Just the whole made up world type thing in general is what I meant...You know what was a cool space game was Galactic Conquest for BF42. That was pretty damn fun. If someone could go ahead and port Star Wars battlegrounds to the BF2 engine I'd play it. And yes, I am aware of the irony. No need to point it out...

I didn't really care for that mod, except for that one kick-arse map that was in a dark cave over rope-bridges...that rocked with the lazers and stuff!
