      Re: bunny hopping

There is more skill in using bunny hopping to evade enemy fire than waiting with a pkm just round the corner from a spawn point.

People forget this is just a game. There are a ton of things unrealistic in the game. The process of becoming a good player is about finding your strengths, your weaknesses and how to best utilise them in the enviroment your in.

There is no skill in making a kill with a better weopon. To expect someone to just take fire without jumping is insane. Would going prone under fire be classed as dolphin diving?

All you need are 3 server rules. No TK for Vehicles, No spawn killing, No Uncap raping. Infact you shouldn't even need the tk for vehicles if you have appropriate server settings/punk buster.

well we have to agree to disagree on this bunny hopping issue white feather ..... i dont feel its hard to shoot bunnys actually eiser if you spray your weapon.... makes a bigger target ... i just think it looks silly to see ppl doing it.... I get into playn the game and i like seeing kewl advancment tactics and formations with my fellow clan members ...and tactical advancement looks kewl to watch and be apart of in the game thats what i enjoy about this game there are lots of video games that run jump and shoot with all kind s of waepons .... laser guns sonic blasters lol etc... and thats kewl for a games like that and it may be advantages to jump and shoot but like i said i enjoy bf2 because for the most part they try to keep it real and watching a team jump up and down running down the road takes away from that .. but... thankfully there are all kinds of servers out there with all kinds of different rules i think theres a server for everone out there . and if im on a server that alows it i would never bitch bout it because i choose to play there, however i usually choose servers that do not allow it because i enjoy that type of game ... you can be for or against bunny hopping it doesnt matter to me i just dont like hearing ppl bitch bout it haha ... just go to a server with rules that you enjoy .

I would like to see how tired a real soldier would be if he reapetedly tried to jump up and down in full gear lol it has never happened and it makes a realistic game seem silly and videogame like ... I think jumping should have a energy bar like running you can do it once or twice but then have to wait a bit .That would seem more real to me... I like this game because it seems real at times on big screen in surround lol im hooked but, to see a bunch of guys just running and constantly hopping around it looks silly and takes away from the game .Skill has nothing to do with it ... but there are those who like it and I respect that, however im glad our servers DO NOT allow it ... and I will warn, and kick for it ... if some do not like it then there are lots of servers to accomodate them .
I hope you were being sarcastic. If not, I'm going to give you a long laundry list of reasons why this game is not even near close to realistic.

The game is not realistic lets face it when would you ever spawn on a flag? I do like keeping the game with a sense of realism and bunny hopping is simply not realistic.

                    Re: bunny hopping

I agree bunny hopping is not realistic, and neither is jumping off a 2 storey building opening a parachute, niether is coming back from the dead or reviving injured soldiers in a fraction of a second or zig zaging in the open against the enemy. Being able to operate a tank by yourself isn't realistic either, or jumping off 20 foot heights without injury, etc, etc.

I normally don't get involved when the noobs start debating bunny hopping, but seriously guys bunny hopping the the least of your problems. Have you seen the ground humpers? Almost impossible to hit.

EA has nerfed this game so much that skill is almost no longer a factor. First off BF2 started with the cone of fire (spray and pray), than they removed the ability to jump and shoot, and if I understand it right they even turned friendly fire off by default on ranked servers. (I rarely play ranked servers). Than they removed the ability to squad hop, nerfed choppers, nerf the jets. I'm sure I missed a lot.

My point is EA has already done so much to remove skill from the game that I need to question why server admins still feel the need to further reduce the skill requirement making such rules preventing character manipulation with is still in the game? No wonder the game is crap now compared to when it was originally released.

The shame is that EA continues to further nerf the game to cater to the noobs who are to lazy to learn the skills that others have worked hard for.
And if you seriously think bunny hopping is bad, than you haven't seen anything yet. Most of the best players in the world do not play on ranked servers and the stuff they can do would blow your minds.

I got used to bunny hoppers, but still I don't get how any one can possibly jump that high for so long, with all that gear.

YOU CAN NOT SHOOT WHILE JUMPING
How can you complain about someone that isn't even shooting at you? Can you seriously not kill someone shooting at you?

Point 2: It comes down to aim if they're going all over the place, and you aim and burst he's dead.

                          GET SKILL THANKS.

That really puts the whole bunny hop debate in perspective. Well said, had me laughing for a bit, I think I may quote that and put it in my sig.

Unfortunately, EA listens to all these people and with each patch will still continue to nerf the game more and more. Pretty soon we'll only be able to walk around, no more jumping, proning, crouching, sprinting, but still people will complain about something that just isn't realistic or meant to be.

In my own personal opinion, I feel people don't like it because they have a hard time coping with it, as in they have a hard time adjusting and beating someone that is doing it.

I never really was sold on the 'it's supposed to be semi-realistic' side of the arguement. I don't see it as that, I just see a game.

But that is just my general opinion and everyone has a different view on it.
Good point IV, I tend to agree with you. Games like UT series, Doom 3, Quake series, etc are much faster paced and truer FPSD in the traditional sense. I never had a problem with it either, when people would do it, I would just drop a couple grenades with the Right mouse button and that took care of them.
I personally think BF2 could be an even better game if it were a little faster paced. It seems to be turning into a RTS game or even a turn based shooter.
