How do you decide who gets the plane/tank/apc etc?
Up until very recently I have spent most of my time playing BF2 with me on foot leaving the vehicles to other players. However I decided to add another dimension to the game and to make more of the maps 'accessible' (I tended to stick to the more infantry based maps) I should learn to use the vehicles. Little did I know what I was letting myself in for
I am (very) average and can get away with playing in armour and transport if the situation calls for it so I decided it was time to take to the skies. As I have a joystick ,which up to now just collects dust, I would go for planes. So I spent my time on single player and empty local servers learning the basics. Then decided to have a go in quiet ranked servers till I got the hang of it. Unfortunately I didn't realise that the hardest part of flying is actually trying to get in a jet
I wandered over to the hanger at the start of the round only to find a couple of guys already there, ok, I thought, they are first so I will wait my turn so I park my ass next to the runway to wait for them to crash and the plane to respawn. After about five mins I see on the screen that the pilot has gone down. So 'here I go' I figure........However I didn't realise that unlike every thing else i have ever known you don't have to let the guy who has been waiting from waaaay before you in front of you. Three other guys suddenly appeared and ran to the runway then started 'shoving' and jumping about like idiots trying to guess where the cockpit of the plane would spawn and get in it first. Whoever managed it was then shot at by the other two who he then ran over (as much their fault as his). This pattern has continued on a lot of the servers I have been on and when I do manage to get in as I am taking off some random bloke drives/ runs at me from the other end of the runway
Probably most of you are smiling and thinking how naive I was to think that this would be different. So I ask, what is the basic rule for who gets a chance to get in the vehicle and try to drive?
1) First person on the scene?
2) Whoever has just crashed in it has claimed it for the round?
3) The last man standing after a TK fest?
4) Next in line (apparently not)?
5) The highest of jumpers when the jet/ tank spawn etc. ?
6) The highest ranked person?
OR some other completely biazarre rule??
I ask because I am really enjoying learning to fly but am getting mighty pee'd off at the hassle you have to go through to get in a jet in the first place.:cry:
