All you would have to do is take the grey dust that flies off of people when you shoot them now and turn it red. That would be blood spray/mist from hits.

BF1942 had a mod like this called the "Blood pack" and it was great.... added just that little delicate touch of realism without going overboard.

There is a minimod for vanilla BF2, that does the "red dust trick" like prmm.
But it doesn't work on punkbuster (ranked) servers, because you have to overwrite some files.
I found it only on a german BF2 site, here's the link for those who are interested.

Am i the only one that wishes BF2 had blood and graphic violence?Has anyone played Day of Defeat?I love the splatter effect on that game.And what is with the NO-CURSING on most servers?I realize that i am not paying the bill for the server so i dont make the rules... We all play a game that simulates death and destruction.But we cant curse while doing it,lol.Just thought it was weird.

Battlefield 2 wanted to maintain a T rating, and it succeeded.

Rofl even if the game had a higher rating, ratings don't mean $hit, waste of time, it just gives more incentive to buy it, when I saw F.E.A.R. its an 18 or M if you like then its obviously going to be realistic, blood etc therefore it gives more incentive to buy it, I don't know anyone whos parents don't let them have 18's or M+ games. EA didn't put it in, incase of a higher rating (possible losing money) and someone spraying up there school in the name of BF2 (not good rep). CSS has blood, quite alot actually, no dismemberment but still blood which I don't see why not on BF2?

Swear filters are possibly one of the worst parts of the game.

I swear all the time and I dont see the problem with it, if someone is swearing at you, go kill them.

And I just swear at nothing because I just do that.

Swearing is different than speaking a different language. It's like someone just going around saying "n00b, n00b, n00b" or "g4y, g4y, g4y" It has completely lost any meaning and therefore it's just annoying. (in some people's opinion). Others it's to protect the children, others it's because of their beliefs. I agree with all of the above, so unless you can make it useful, funny, or otherwise a genuine word that you're using to express yourself, why bother?!

turning the puffs of dust red seems fair nuff....adding rivers of gushing blood from every and any damage taken, and guts and flying chunks of gib is of course ridiculous.....

so i think its not an unreasonable suggestion, just so long as its not over-done....perhaps even adding some slight, and temporary decal/blood stain/splat on walls, and floor might even be plausable........

i dont think it would be a good idea if it effects performance, comprimising stability for the sake of adding gore is not a worthy trade in my opinion....

i think having a 'mature', or 'adults only' rating would only improve the overall maturity of players we all encounter daily, yet it would adversly effect their profits, and that is what business is all about

i will enjoy the game either way, so it certainly is not necessary, but would definately add something to the game (unless your colorblind)

I don't particular miss it, sure it would be cool sometimes but in the end it just makes it that much more difficult - especially since folk can be revived after being hit by a tank shell :P

I like the idea of a quick small red mist when you get shot, but I don't want to see blood spatter all over walls and on the streets like in Counter-Strike; that's kinda over done IMO.

I don't miss it at all, all i need is a hit indicator and the red "X" works fine for me, i'm not adverse to blood/gore but just don't think its important. From EA's point of view of course it kept the rating down which equals more sales.

As for the swear filter, nobody seems to realise that its not to stop swearing persay, its to stop the associated flamewars that go with swearing at someone - most people will reply with another insult if sworn at and it can snowball from there. I also ban words like "noob" and "gay" and "hacker" from servers for the same reason (they start unnecessary arguments)

Just pretend your playing lazer force, running around with a lazer gun. If you hAVE to swear, use VoIP. If you HAVE to vent your frustrated, try killing the guy 10 or 12 times in-game ??
