Coop isn't allowed to be because bots are retarded, and you could stat pad a bot by putting them in the loop and no one would care or say anything because it's a bot.

Because using the term 'testmap-1' would make us question what they are testing? Or maybe it's because it would be hard to remember what is what when you have testmap 1 through 50"? I don't know, programmers are strange birds...God love 'em!

well it's a start I guess...
Anyway, as far as Im concerned EA has fu*ked us hard with the last couple of patches, adding a new map with the next patch will have about the same effect as using lube next time they decide to bend us over a table, pull our pants down and play pin the tail on the Bf2 player.
It make's everyone feel a little better but their still fu*king us...

anyway, they should release a new patch quickly because that hotel exploit is becoming more and more annoying, allmost in every game i see someone doing it now...

new map would be way nice, free content is a good way to make ppl happy and buy bf2142

Right up until the bots "learn" and do the same to you...then they unplug and start a war with humans...then we have BF2: Terminator Edition

On a serious note though, it would be awesome if we got some new maps...this latest patch is killing me, in 2 hours I had 3 CTD's and numerous connection errors and yes I have a pretty high end system (I think)

There is more unrevealed ontent. As some guys figured out at a german forum you can find informations about the three following vehicles at the localization files:

Harrier

* Lynx AH-7 Anti Tank Chopper
* Harrier
* VBL (Armored Personal Carrier)

Just have a look at the following file:

english_mappacks.utxt

which you can find in the following folder:

Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\Localization\english

Make a copy and open it with the editor. Scroll down and search for the following lines:

We took a look at the menu files also where you can find the icons of the three vehicles (.tga files). The vehicle "VB1" from this list is here called "VBL" which seems to be a french APC. We made a picture which you can find here. All in all it seems to be Euro Force Content that was canceld or postponed for some reasons.

And there is another map which is called "hinganhills" -> "Hingan Hills" or "Hin Gan Hills" or whatever. There's a mapdescription as well. Last but nor least there are two more .tga files that we believe to be new vehicles:

xpak2_griffon.tga (Icon = jet)
xpak2_tln.tga (icon = apc)

So I thought about this:

- Take the New Euro Force Army
- put it over to Afghanistan
- Take another China map
- take three (or five?) new vehicles
- make a third booster

But that are just my thoughts. Maybe they'll just pick the best content and offer it as a patch.

No variable present though, so I DOUBT it's what you guys think it is.

However . . . BF2_Plasma . . . ? That's a new one.

Also it's NOT a SF map as it clearly states US vs MEC. In SF, it'd be SEALs vs MECSF as can be seen here:

aLSO IT'S A "159.153.X.X" server. This Range of IP addy's belong to EA, hence it is real. My only two concerns are the server name, and the player names. Usually BFTEST accounts are "BFTEST#". Now there are test accounts using "leet speak" or using other names, follwed by BFTEST.

Those could be the peoples prefixes that they felt like putting in :)

And as for infantry only? Thats a damn good idea! Map must be suited for it though. Humvees and DPVs would be a good idea to implement. Maybii without the guns though so they only act as transport? Or adding those civilian vehicles as in Armored Fury.

Doesnt DICE or EA or whomever check any of the forums like these or anything else and notice that people are finding stuff out? Why not just make an official statement for the public. More interaction with the community would be a good thing.

more content could make things interesting, but at the same time they could give us some freebie if they are planning on releasing more booster packs.

I'm puzzled as to why you're disappointed and think that Dice are selling out. I reckon that if it's true it sounds good offering the option to runs maps with infantry only. If it's available as an option then where's the harm in that?

I, for one, would definitely be interested in playing on infantry-only maps.

Man that would suck having to swim from the air craft carrier on Wake and Dalian Plant maps!!! By the time I get to shore the Chinese will have all the flags :-P

No . . . coop isn't allowed because it would interfere with traditional gameplay, which is what ranked servers are all about. Besides the fact that bots are easy, coop isn't allowed as a ranked server not because of padding, but becuase it breaks the standard. EA's standard is all the normal maps being played under conquest. Period. I mean we're not allowed to touch the TICKET RATIO, but yet there going to allow us to take vehicles away from players? Common people, use some common sense here.

Infantry only WILL disrupt this standard and therefore it will not be in a ranked server. Also, as I pointed out, there is no "0" for the variable status, which means that it is null and void for the server they're running.

Not to mention that the whole Battlefield series is "what it is" becuase of all the different vehicles, from land, sea, and air. If you want just infantry, there's a hundred other games out there for simple infantry battles.

IMO, the whole idea of Infantry Only in BF2 (Or any battlefield sereis for that matter) is stupid, but hey, whatever floats your/their boat . . .

Guys . . . Notice on the game monitor server vars section EVERY variable which is important to a server has either a "1" or a "0". Notice how bf2_infantryonly has NOTHING, just like "bf2_coop____" is completely blank. Therefore, this may lead one to believe bf2_infantryonly may be a new game type.

What you are all speculating is that one can turn vehicles on or off. This would only be the case if there were a "0," as the variable status. Leaving it blank explains that the variable or setting is null/void in the scenario the server is running, which is conquest.

In any event, whether it's a new game mode, or some other setting, I'm 99% positive it is NOT going to be allowed for ranked servers, just as coop isn't allowed.

Or it maybe for Singleplayer only.../cry

The only standard it will disrupt is the armor whores being able to lay waste to teh alleyways on infantry heavy maps. Anyway, it's all speculation at this point, so need trying to express either view as fact.
