Here's how to hit the MEC chopper. I think it's actually easiear than hitting the US chopper. Besides, as US you'll get immediate access to the TOW :)
You'll have to start a bit high and then immediately pull lower (see the screenies and note where the rightmost part of lower "arrow" resides). You'll hit the left part of the chopper (left from where you are looking at) and end up in an instant kill. If you pull a bit more to the right you'll hit the chopper to the middle but it takes a couple of seconds to explode..


Below note that the bottommost arrow is flush with the bottom of the concrete wall.

I don't like the "reaiming" in flight mode. In an actual game it leaves you very vulnerable to anything coming up the road + snipers.

My method it to aim just up from it and use the tow's known fall to land the shot. The advantage to this is that you can also hit the stinger (hard, I can get it in about 6/10 shots) and the vodniks (easy, 10/10 times) aswell. I've found you can only get the stinger with the dropped shot and not the re-aimed one because of the hill on front of it.

Even though I can easily hit the heli's on the pad i've still to get veteren ground defence Once the mec's have figured out I can take out the heli as soon as it spawns they actually abandon using it until they have control of the hotel.

Well, you can get the veteran ground defense quite easily as commander on a large map with a, say, 20-32 player max limit. Just mount a tow or mg and arty the enemy.. I got mine (and the expert explosives ordinance) in Warlord as the Insurgent commander. I was in the palace and threw claymores to defend my back (and the flag) while mounting the east wing MG and using arty. Cheap, I hear you saying Btw. whenever my claymores ran out I took some more ammo from the recently deceased enemy support guys :laugh:

I've also noticed that certain servers also kick and ban for this MEC tow method. "uncappable camping with a non kit weapon".

There's a not-so-cheap way to do that. It also happens to be on Warlord. It takes specific timing though. It's better to be in a 40+ person server. Make sure your team holds third floor palace and the other team holds second floor palace. There is a mounted RPK-74 on the ledge next to second floor palace. It is at a 90 degree angle to the control point. You can see through the windows and doors there. Just mount the gun and fire away. I got 3 awards being on the gun, Veteran Ground Defense, Expert Ground Defense, and Veteran Engineer Combat. It was awesome.
