                Just me 2cents...

My squad runs a ranked server and we use a language filter that warns and then kicks. The reason we have it the filter is that we know there are many children that play in our server. Although we know we're not responsible for others' kids, we also want to avoid having parents come to our website to chew our bawls off. We're just trying to be responsible. On our TeamSpeak server we're worse than a sailors and porn directors combined, but we just don't see a need to stop and take the time to type bad words.

It is pretty funny though: some people cannot play without typing bad words...

Stop ruining our community and go back to playing CS, please.

I do think language filters in a game where the objective is to put high caliber bullets through other people's skulls is humorous though.

                    Re: Swearing

My clans server kicks and then bans for a variety of language and racial infractions. We did this since CounterStrike and have continued it into Call of Duty, COD2, CSS and now BF2. What do we get for this? A server full of mature regulars who have a great time together no matter what side of the battle they are on. Servers that are usually full.

I've seen the "free" servers some of you talk of where cursing is not only allowed but quite heavily used by the admins. They remind me of a gaming hell and I'm glad they exist. This way I don't feel bad when someone gets banned from my server as I know they have a place to go. If cursing really makes the game better for you or gives you the illusion that you are expressing yourself, more power to you.

no swearing just makes all the little ankle biters leave and go find another server to say bad words through their mics.

I think you should need a credit card to reg your name and play online. Then the game would be so much better. No little kids, you can swear all you want and the gameplay would prob be better. I mean I bet its all the little kids that dont play fair and glich and pun you for walking in front of your vehicle. Mature teen agers and young adults couldn't be bothered with gliching and acting like a h0m0 and ruining the game for other ppl. I can almost garentee its those stupid 12 year olds. I wish they had their own servers or something.

                            It's the pinnacle of geekdom.

You can always tell who the kids are by the amount of profanity they use. There are plenty of kiddy servers that do not have language filters, if you can't control your fingers go there and leave the adults alone.

                              Re: Swearing

Isn't it ironic that adults put so much effort into protecting their kids from swear words, sex, drugs, and violence yet these are the exact same things that kids revel in. I think most of us in here can agree that four letter words (as well as many other bad things) were part of everyday life during our K-12 days. A few days ago I heard some young black kid that was about 5 y/o calling one of his buddies an igga-bomb and throwing multiple F-bombs around. Just what use are swear filters, movie/game ratings, drug laws and all this crap if kids still get involved in it.

What's worse is when I play a game like CS:S that's rated MATURE. I should be allowed to see nude sprays, swear like a sailor, and brag about the fatass J that I'm puffing on. But no, just because a bunch of punk kids decided to have their older brother buy them a copy of CS:S, I have to have my game turned into Barney-Strike.

Where did all the mature servers and gamers go? We need to stop taking care of other peoples kids.

                                Re: Swearing

I don't think the lil black 5 y/o learnt any of that language off BF2, or computer games for that matter. He would've got it off the idolic "gangsta's" on tv, or the elders around him everyday. No one to tell him off I guess.
(I can say Black because I've got a year round tan alright. lol)

I don't think it's just kids feeling the effects, the majority of adulthood find it offensive, even when it isn't aimed at them. They've grown up with it as BaAaAd wOoRds, so feel like flushing soap in mouths because it's rubbish.
Either way, I have no problem with it. I find it humourous and generally unoffensive. But for personal use, I know when it is out of line, else I frankly do not care. Just a word dickhead.

Anyway, the other problem is what language tossing leads to. Arguments, b*tching and angry gamers... it's a game, pass time, purpose of entertaining.. why are you angry?... / still playing... go away...
