Our server has virtually no swearing rules until you go over the top - swearing for no reason whatsoever using words such as "****" and "****" and "donkey ***".

lol, I agree to an extent but today people take things to serious and are offended with just about anything. So Indian Scout could you tell me that if I see someone calling someone else a racial slur, it could be screenshotted and sent in to EA or whoever and they could have their stats or cd-key banned?

I was in a server 2 days ago it was on Wake and the whole time about 4 players were shouting racial abuse at each other like ******, ******, jew, honkey etc. So if you were in that server and spotted someone saying that would you take their names?

Just to edit its funny how the racial African American word is star'd out but the racial Caucasion word isn't.

i opened a similiar tread a few days ago... I think is stupid they make a point about swearing.. and if its so bad.. change the words into "*"s

It's so lame now that most servers ban on swearing and **** like that! Why in a real war people swear all the time! GGGrrr, Just think of it as "tough love" for all the young players. They will have to harden up and listen to bad language sometimes in their life!

The main reason most servers have a kick on cuss words it to cut down on the bitching and pointless chat.

When the kids can't cuss, they don't bitch as much and actually play instead of saying 'fu noob' every time they get killed.

Its not about being offended, its just annoying.

I would love to see 18+ servers where you can chat the way you want, but there would be no way to enforce the age limit...

so guess thats never gunna happen..

and I know it's not 13+ everywhere, but those are the rules...

What ever happened to simple decency and why is it considered such a chore to remain respectful and reasonably mature online these days? Popping out a reactive swear word on TS or Ventrillo is one thing, but to take the time to type the thing out shows a whole new level or disrespect and disregard for the enjoyment of anyone other than yourself. Further, to play on servers where stricker rules are being enforced - which ironically makes the server attractive to the best kinds of players (one's you all evidently wish you could play more with), and then to come here bemoaning the fact that your childish and disrespectful behavior is no longer tolerated is a laughable exercise in futility.

The bottom line is that most of those who take the time to restrain themselves for the sake of unknown others who MAY be playing at the same time, are also the kinds of players who display the most desired sporstmanship in the game. So usually, you will find less tk'ing, more teamwork, more "gg"s exchanged (remember when they were normal?), fewer smacktards and more consistent admin'ing. If you find such behavior reprehensible, then you either shouldn't mind being banned from it since you'd never want to go back anyway, or simply shut up and learn etiquette, manners and respect. Such qualities actually DO come with some positive rewards in life, including the right to play with many other respectful players in an online world otherwise filled with simpleton smacktards and 20 year olds going on 12.

The very fact that enforcing decency rules actually offends some here is all the proof we need that restrictive servers are actually beneficial to many. After all, contrary to your own point of view, the world does not revolve around you alone. If you are a "guest" on a server, then learn to show the respect normally expected of such. Who knows, you might even develop a good habit online that carries over into your real-life with positive results.

Haha so it's the rules? alright then, have an icon like PB that has R18 (even R16) next to a server name. It is then your agreement to this servers 'rules' by clicking join.

Those that have to swear (either online or as a part of their everyday conversational vocabulary) show thier ignorance, their limited ability to use language, as well as their lack of maturity and self control.

Bravo to those servers that enforce the ban (at least those than give you a warning before they kick you).

Flame on. This was never meant to be an argument, merely a discussion. No doubt we would have constant vocally changed users posting, to normal casual speakers, to those brought up to believe words are offensive. If I'm not having fun and generally frustrated with a game AND it's not a teamkiller causing my frustration I will generally ill respectfully want to vent. Being that it is online, what would I possibly care when it isn't face to face anymore. Ill mannered is up to those who made up manners, and how the change with time, some need to grow up yourselves / or rather catch up with the times and realise how harmless and frequent words are becoming, not to mention general illiteracy in common speak.
I have sportsmanship when I play, but I can't say I'd ever like to hold back what I can and can't say at the threat of being kicked and not just frowned upon.
I would much rather speak normally and without hesitation over trying to play batttlefield in a crappy old english accent while avn' tea n crumpeets wif da queen. "Oooh jolly good shot myy fellow". "Ooh and again, oh I was fooled" "Ooh you got me again good sir, lucky you" "Ooh my goodness me, that tank is working wonderful for you" "You do look quite lovely in that tank"...
