I could build a better system for almost half of what that would cost with twice the performance. An expensive rig is not necessarily a good one.
1.) What do you expect to gain from DDR2 other than spending more oney on RAM? Ther eis NO noticeable difference at all in game.
2.) Dual core might not actually help your gaming aside from being able to let you run ventrilo/teamspeak.

I dont know what you think L2 cache is or was used for, but I beg to differ. L2 Cache is a small amount of high-speed memory located close to, and sometimes on, the CPU. L2 Cache allows for high-speed access to the system's most commonly accessed data. On newer CPU's the L2 Cache is most often located directly on the CPU, allowing for higher performance. GO to Toms hardware and look it up for yourself. They benchmarked 512k and 1MB L2 cache CPu's and there is a noticeable difference. The reason that the San Diego core chip is better than the Clawhammer is because it is a slightly modified version of the FX-57, a processor specifically designed for gaming/high end graphics.
The 3500+ AMD should be fine. I just built a system using an AMD 64 3200+ and it runs BF2 smooth as **** with most of the graphics bumped way up. I've got 2 gigs of RAM though.
Nvidia aleady said that there & series card frm the 7600 and up will support DX10.
Sorry man but you're wrong. The 7xxx series does not support DX10. The next generation of cards will, and they'll be released a little bit before Windows Vista, because Vista is built around DX10, but does have support for DX9.
Here's some specs. for nVidia 7 series, and nowhere does it say it supports DX10.

I am completely aware of what the L2 cache is intended for. If you can show me graphs showing the difference in performance, I'd be happy to see them. My information source is www.dfi-street.com
Lots and lots of AMD users there. Every single person that I have spoken to with any experience in OCing or building rigs has said there is NO difference in performance.
Run some benches on them and see for yourself.
3700+ is a 2.2Ghz processor stock. Run that against another 2.2Ghz with a different core and compare.
