What do you think of this system

It is not mainly a gaming rig as i use it mostly for homework but at the same time love my BF2 :laugh:

My main system fried the motherboard and cpu so i am forced to upgrade (cash is tight right now)

Dont but it. Vista is coming out in a few monts and your going to kick your self when you have to upgrade to play all the dx10 exclusive games.

Looks like a really nice system. I would guess that you will be CPU limited, but you could upgrade that later on down the road.

What's this about DX10 exclusive games? What part of the system would he need to upgrade for that?

I would get this instead, it has a higher L2 cache:

You cannot really notice any difference with a 7900GT and a 7800GT, go with the cheaper of the 2 and use the difference to boost your cpu is possible.

well, there r always options better than budget. if u r goin for budget, then u really dont need to post here, cos it all depends on your wallet. we can help u find out the best parts but if u only follow your wallet than its useless advice posting here.

I own the 3700+ SD and have done extensive research before purchasing my parts. The increased L2 cache will show NO performance gain, however the SD chip is great for overclocking. (If you ever plan on doing that)

I'd scrap that sytem and rebuild for am2. You'd want to sell that ram anyway, amd procs really don't like to have all 4 dimms populated. Wrong section, btw.

I have the 3500+ venice and a gb of ram... My CPU usage adn Ram usage is around 95-100 all the time when playing bf2, but It runs everyhing on high/medium fine... but I really would like another gb of ram. I also am using a BFG 7800 GTOC
