Let me clear out something, I would pay 20$ for this episode rather than the $50 BF2 costs, if you haven't played episode 1, then you haven't realised how very well its made, the game is 100% worth the money.

Also, half life 3 could be released in 2 to 3 years, the developers cannot work for that long with just one big game, and the profits would easily wash away.
k, well least with BF2 im getting a huge variety of maps, and a different play every game. So much you can do in it. With HL2 episodes its just complete in in 3 hours or whatever then your done, unless you can return it to the shop (but I don't think you can do that with PC games?) then whats it worth. I buy a game thats going to last months not a few hours. I bought all the GTA's on the ps2, why? because it lasts a long time, and they are long games.

Don't like it? Don't buy it. $20 seems reasonable if the game is really good, and the half life series is great quality. Sure, he beat it in 3 hours? Ok? People beat halo2 in what under 5 hours on the easiest difficulty when they first got it, but they were extremely good at FPSs and halo fanatics. Lets just leave it at the fact that people take longer than others in games. While one can run through everything not looking that the enviroment ect, others will stop. For those who do have it, wanna post some pics?

        not looking that the environment?

Anyway I don't have or play HALO. $20 reasonable for stages of a game? you'd say that if its not coming from your pocket.

Just finished the game - pretty good. Some bits were boring, but overall good value for money. Alyx is wonderful in it, really improved interactions, and the whole thing does feel like a race against time.

No, looking at* the enviroment. Smartass. Are you going to tell me you've never stopped once during Half life 2 and went '' wow that looks cool ''. There were also a sum of moments where you could have just (using this specific one as an example) not go into that house by the wrecked boat and pass right on by, or you could go in and fight all of the (aliens?, i really never cought on what they were called). Simply put, people take longer than others, or do different things.

thats because BF2 is MULTIPLAYER and this is SINGLE PLAYER. I like what VALVe is doing, we get the games faster and they are at a good price, they are releasing 3 episodes which means $60. That's the price of a full new game. I also beat the game in 2 days because I took my time and I didn't rush, plus I also played on hard. It was worth EVERY penny.

I'm gonig to buy every HL game VALVe throws at me. The story is amazing and so are the games themselves.

                          3 hours of quality fun

                          *sigh*

Costs the same as bloody SF, and SF has given me 53 hours of fun so far and still clocking.

as has been said b4 in this thread HL2E1 is a single player game... now how much single player fun has BF2SF given you ?

No doubt. But the problem is that it only has a very limited number of minutes to love.

Personally, I would just rather wait the year or two and get the full game rather having it dished out to me incrementally; but I suppose if Valve/Steam have their way, that's going to become "old school" thinking. Perhaps they are right though. Today's generation of kids have have a small attention span and most suffer from ADD to some extent, so I guess three hours is enough before they start getting bored. :p

I don't understand the people who compair this to BF2. 2 completely different types of games, single player and multiplayer. It's obvious that BF2 will give you more hours because it's online. No matter what an online game is going to give you more hours of playing time because there is no story so that means no ending. Is it seriously that hard to understand??
