      That's funny!

          Same here.

The shots are a bit out of date since I had a GF6800 GT 256 MB at that time.
But now with my 7800 GS OC 256MB it's the same.

BF2 has suffered also since 1.03 (not 1.3) on my system.
It was when Special Forces came out but it's still not as bad as SF which is unplayable in most cases.
Lag, choppines, 15/66.7, freeze image and 3fps when in a chopper it's all there. : /

          My system

          P4 3.2 GHz
          2 GB Corsair PC3200
          SB AUdigy 2 ZS
          EVGA 7800 GS OC

I've done everything from BF tweaks to making a seperate Partition for my swap file and so on. But no luck.

BF2 has suffered from Special Forces, thats my conclusion.

As the game was super fluid for me from 1.0 till 1.03.

            Hi all,

It MAY help to use RivaTuner to check your texture RAM usage.

            K.

Sorry but I can't see what that should be good for.

I play on medium textures already, although I should be able to play on high.
              Remember:
              2 Gig Main RAM
              256 MB VRAM
The lag and bad performance are not related to RAM, thats for sure. At least not on my PC.
I would say it's 99% due to the netcode.
              Or some engine screw up.

                Re: Fps: 15.0/66.7

Hmm i am happy to read this thread. Cause for while i thought i need to get a new graphics card. I got 15/66 to and i am running at medium with 2x and 1024.
And exactly as you guys subscribe is that if you find a quite nice spot the fps is at 85 and upwards and while in combat it can drop at 15. Before 1.3 i could run bf2 at high without any problems but now it's a pain.

                -cdt
                -low frame rate
                -connection lost
                -crashes my computer
-and sometimes my ping jumps to 700 and upwards for 5-10 seconds

It's a pain, and no news when the patch is coming out. I wish they reverted to 1.22.But that's just a dream.

Its the engine basically...its terrible..I run ALL low in vanilla and I had to uninstall SF because it was unbearable to play...i get an average of 15 FPS in vanilla while in CoD2 i can run it with 4x AA!! In CoD2 i get no lag at all and i can get 50-60 FPS average with FX 5200 and 512 MB of RAM..CoD2 is a great game...mmm CoD2...

Ya cod2 it great but with mods. Not with the option like in halo2 if you get shot you can heal yourself over a couple seconds.

Thats related to the 1.3 Patch. And also officialy acknowledged by DICE.

                      -crashes my computer
-and sometimes my ping jumps to 700 and upwards for 5-10 seconds
Crashes were never a problem on my Rig and I'm still using the first Battlefield 2 installment. I would say different PCs different problems.
The ping jump could be due to your connection or just because of the respective server you were playing on.

                      -low frame rate
This issue came up when Special Forces was released and with the 1.12 patch.

I would love to see a testserver setup with patch 1.03 and BF2 Vanilla to see how the game performed with this version and the patches after.

It's a pain, and no news when the patch is coming out.
Still no sign of the hotfix and the patch is planned for August as far as I know.

But still I doubt it that they will optimize the game. They're only try to fix the bugs but I don't think this will bring the framerate back up.
