I say no. It would make it much harder for server admins to keep an eye on players that cause trouble.

I agree, but not only server admins, other players as well. I expect we all reconise the name of a few pain in the ass players, especially high ranking ones.

I also think that more people would use anonymity to grief other players in game, sure they already can by making a new account but it involves more effort. Of course having one name is also useful for easilly finding people you often play with and can trust in your squad.

Having an unchangable nick is the price you pay for consistent stats, you can't compare it to other games as the ranking system is unique in the FPS genre.

Lastly, the fact that you couldn't change your name is well documented so you can hardly blame EA because you didnt read the manual :)

At the very most i think that a one time "amnesty" would be just about acceptable so that people could change thier name ONCE and once only just so the silly people can fix there names if they didn't think about it when they made thier account, however ideally i like it the way it is now and hope it dosent change

I sincerely think there will be no more patches for BF2. Maybe, just maybe one more hotfix, but no more patches. I wanted to be able to change my ingame name since the clan I first got in never went anywhere. Many people have asked for this change, but it was resoundingly beat out by the multitudes clamoring for vehicle drops.

BF2 has run it's life, 2043243 or whatever it will be called will have all the attention now. Support will stop for BF2, and it will fade away quietly like 42 and DC did. (I know there a still a few that play it, but, a great majority do not any longer.....)

It would be better if we could change our name like in BF1942, You cant hide your name status on that, on my BF1942 account, i have 6 names being used under same CD key. so it should go the same for BF2. I had an account as She_Sniper but had tags in front of that name, no prefix at that time. i left had to change my name to Tartan_Tart, then i joined another clan, Again no prefix Had then to add Tags, Then the prefix came out, now ive left my clan and again started back to the original Tartan_Tart. so almost 500 hours of Bf2 Down the plug hole.

So it would be an idea ,Just keep the CD key details and have a data base of name changes.

im stuck with my bf2 because of gamespy when someone stole it but funny how people dont actually recognise the d b at the start and end of my nick to being headfones (kinda old school irc) but would be nice if i could remove them i prefer to use my original nickname its been mine for 7yrs ever since i started playing online games of various genres ;p

I won't change my name but it'd be nice if you decide to leave your clan and have your clan tag with your account name.

I started another account for this but my clan tag account I have has 61K and the non-tagged name has justabout' 3k...

I think you should be able to change your name... but there should be a limit. Maybe once per month or something so someone can't switch over and over and over again all in a week's time.

yep or like they have at central station on the ps2 online, you get your name which you can change 3 times a year, i think that would be fine, i mean really who needs to change there name more then 3 times a year?

I knew from the moment I first played the game (just hours after the demo got out), that all the "Good" names will be taken. So I just registered and "copywrited" 4-5 usernames :laugh:

Although I only use one, I dont think a name-change will change anything. Idiot will be an idiot, n00b will be a n00b, besides, if youre active and youve got some good gamebuddies, change will bring more negative effects.
