Blackhawk and other nerfed thingys

Ok, I'm pretty new to BF2, and I've been lurking here for a little, everyone speaks of the BH being nerfed and how devastating it was besides being a transport with a couple of miniguns on each side. What was this Blackhawk capable of? what did I miss out or not miss out on?

What about other things that were nerfed? What were they? Why were they nerfed?

I am assuming nerfed means the same as taking a real football and making it a nerf football for wimps.

As you can see fairly new to the online gaming world.

The miniguns had splash dmg, just like an apc's main cannon. You didn't even need to aim, you just pressed down the mouse button while the pilot circled flags and the engineers in the back repaired it mid-flight. Nearly unstoppable, needed concentrated fire from at least two vodniks to bring it down. It usually just flew away, repaired for three or four seconds and came back to base rape again. Pilots and crew members used to get 200-300 points per round.

They also were used for capping flags more because the whole team could stay inside and the pilot hovered over the flag. Mechanics in the back wrenching away. And they would just hop from flag to flag.

BH guns, BH capping, GL splash dmg, GL arming distance, dolphin diving, jump & shoot, C4 chucking (though back?), SL hopping.

I'm sure they have another 4-5 things ready to be nerfed as well.

Might as well remove the things now. Completely useless. Has anyone actually killed anybody with these things lately? Must have been from up close when the sucker was on the ground.

On the other hand, it gives the people being transported something to do while they are being bussed around.

Oh the good old days :) Unrealistic and sometimes quite cheap depending on which side you were on? - Absolutely. Fun as heck? - Absolutely

I can't hit a dang thing with the BH and when I do it doesn't kill them.
I miss the good old days of blaack hawk whoring. I don't think it needed the weapons toned down just the armor.

Tell ya what, instead of listening (see: reading) to this, just go d/l the demo version of BF2, as it was not patched, so it still retains the effects of the BH...whick was pretty cool IMO...Yes it was a bit overpowered, but when it was complained about, EA went crazy on it. That is why you rarely see it used anymore. Really, do your self a favor and have some fun on the demo, it's a real kick!!

In hindsight BH whoring never bugged me it was fun doing (alot of fun) and it was fun deystroying a loaded BH every now and then. Now all the transport choppers are completely worthless.

Ahh the good ol' days when I used to do that, In Mashtuur, Oman, Stalemate, oilfields, we had a squad, 1 medic (pilot), 1 support (minigun), and 4 other engineers, THe name was Blackhawk Squad, I was piloting mostly. It was before they put out the patch that only one man in the vehicle can only cap a flag, so when the blackhawk was full, i do circles around the flag,, let my minigunners do all the work, and cap a flag in under 10 seconds. The helicopter was nearly invincible when the squad is working together, even to attack helos and jets. If we get hit by a missle, usually the guys sitting in the back a few will die, and get repaired up by teh enginners and the squadmember will respawn at the squad leader (me, the pilot) Only thing to stop us is kamakazies. Our squad is always first in those rounds. I missed the good ol' days when that happened. Now i have my Navy Cross, and I play MEC and Chinese now, their transport heli is not so good as the blackhawk, not a good view, and the guns are not to powerful, just as a accurate as a vod. turret when its moving. Transport helos used by the MEC and chinese are mainly used to rape carriers, they would fly to the USA carrier and bail the whole squad, perhaps consisting of spec ops, medic, and support. I wish I can live upon these memories again.

they should have just improved the guns of the mec and pla transport choppers to equal them out to the hawk guns...now they just suck.

you rarley find a full crew in a hawk these days.

bh's were ace fun, get a pilot that lined up the gunners and you could nail pretty much everyone. someone said earlier you didnt have to aim, well thats bollocks, you did have to aim. splash damage was good. whiners complained but instead of beefing up the mec chopper they nerfed the blackhawk completely, to the point where your lucky to get 1 kill with the gun.

LOL...there are countless stories of people getting out of the chopper to kill with a pistol because they could not kill a sniper laying on the ground with those nerfed guns!:laugh:

They should have beefed up the MEC Chopper. But hey we are dealing with EA.

Maybe happy days can be back again some day.

If I was an engineer in that hawk or a spec ops sneaking in to get it, those repair, medic and expert explosive would be no problem at all. But today the hawk sits painted yellow and no one wants to use it.

I dont mind busing troops but dont do it much because it has indeed been nerfted.
