    1.3 patch and teamwork.

Anyone else notice teamwork has gotten worse since 1.3? Its almost non existing. If it wernt for medics and support getting points to help, they wouldnt help you either. (and some still dont, not even for a cheap free point)

Now first of all, i hated squad hoppin. I personally think squad hoppin, has programmed folks so far into the ......i dont need anyone to win, gamming mode.......that its wacked now.

    Anyone else notice this?

You actually noticed (better) teamwork before 1.3?

      in a word yes.

What I said, was........teamwork has declined, from what i see, with the latest patch. So, yes, using a natural human thought process, teamwork in 1.22 was better, then 1.3.
I didnt say, though that teamwork rocked and was super hot in previous patch, just that it has declined some with the latest.

          Re: 1.3 patch and teamwork.

See Ive come to the decision that squad hopping actually helped teamwork. Though my definition of squad hopping might be different than others, because my definition involves staying in the same squad but changing the squad leaders. This allows everyone to stay together. Now when a sl dies (and they still die commonly) it means he is seperated from his squad, and if your playing with good players which I am it can take them a while to die, so for as long as it either takes you to rondevu with your squad or for your squad to die your group will be broken into two pieces.

If you want better teamwork I suggest you play project reality so far every time I have played there have been noticeably better levels of teamwork than vanilla bf2. People actually join squads they stick together because they want to be close to a medic when they die etc.

I've had some of my best rounds of teamwork since the patch - However this could all just be coincidence as I have not put as many hours in as others do. I have noticed less medics but then they have seemingly been steadily decreasing since launch or Karkand.

Actually... I've had some of the best rounds in a long time in the last couple days.

Last night I had a great round worth noting.
I pulled down the BR file and figured what the hell... here it is:

Check out how finger stayed with me and kept me alive while we ground the enemy to a pulp. Bigdaddyhogslayer did a reasonable job of supporting us too.

Feel free to laugh your ass off at my swan dive at the end.

I think that before the patch the squad hopping was going out of control, but disabling the option to respawn on your squad leader was unnecessary and ridiculous, just like the cartillery.

Squad cycling was definitely a good thing. Unfortunately it's long gone and I doubt it is coming back.

LOL, I knew your reply would entail a comment like this. I think that you have good rounds gimp because you stick to your server and play with your long standing clan members and friends. For the most part people that go pubbing (be it in a clan server or other) don't have that connection that you do with their in game counterparts.
It's biased to some extent if you stay on the same server and play with the same poeple the majority of the time. Unfortunately, the majority of the BF2 community is just indy pubbers, and it's the luck of the draw that they get a good squad/server/commander to work with.

I never saw the problem with squad hopping. I always just looked at the enemy as targets of opportunity. The bottom line is working as a team in order to reduce the oppositions tickets ultimately helping your side to win.
It's not like the squad hopping or whatever you want to call it was used to unfairly game points or pad a score...That would be ridiculous and a long strech of the imagination to insinuate that much from it...

                    I know.
Thing is, in that BR file I posted my squad didn't have any clanmates in it. That's why I put that one up as an example. VoiP happened to be out lastnight too, so I couldn't bark like normal.

Finger is a RL friend of mine, but we haven't played together for months (he just had a kid and hasn't had the time). Bigdaddy is a reg on the server, but not an R2.

A big part of the reason I seem to have so many good rounds is prolly because I've put the work in. Having a regular server is a good start. I was doing this kinda stuff before I became an R2 (that was a bit part of the reason they hooked me in).

Some simple tips on getting good teamwork going:
                    - Put the onus on you. You are the only one you can control, so look at things you can be doing to promote teamwork. When you show people how it's done, they are likely to follow your example.
                    - Don't expect people to follow you properly when you are SL. If they don't know how to be good squadies they need to be shown. It's much easier to preform teamwork as a squadie than as SL.
                    - Always, always, always spawn on your SL. That's what he's for. He's your heart of the squad and needs you there... even if he doesn't know it.
                    - Stick with the SL. Try to avoid breaking off or being distracted. Once the squad fragments, it's generally doomed.
                    - If you are SL, remind people that if they want teamwork, they have to spawn on and stay with you. don't bother calling 'em noobs or having a tyrad... they'll just tell ya to eff yourself and leave.
                    - There should always be a medic in the squad ready to revive/heal the squadleader. Check out what Finger was doing in that .demo. He was an SLs dream come true for the whole round and you can see how big it paid off.

Yeah... prolly not a bad idea.
I've been beaking off about this stuff since day one, tho.
                        :p

I've always had more fun playing 1.3 style than squad hoppin. No doubt this is why the transition was so easy for me.

                          Re: 1.3 patch and teamwork.

imo, the clan match quality has gone right down the tube with this new patch. They are barely better than public server matches now, as the new squad system has completely ruined any of the fast paced tactics we all cooked up and loved.

It seems after any new patch, we all have to relearn how to play the game, and that gets magnified tenfold for clans in competitive leagues. Its really waring thin now.

I have been joining and leading squads a lot less because the only time I joined them was when I was dead... which is impossible now, and I have about 10 deaths due to just joining squads while alive, which is pretty geh
