A little background: I first installed BF2 on a machine similar to this back when it was released and played it relatively bug-free for 6 or 8 months. then upgraded almost my entire PC (AMD Athlon X2 4200+, 2GB ram, Nvidia 7800GTX, ASUS A8N-SLI deluxe MB, etc). so the parts i originally had leftover, i used to make the HTPC that i am currently experiencing this bug with, which is the specs listed above. my first few installs the game wouldn't even load. i fixed that with another install. updated to the latest patch, and am still having the problem. screenshot is included below:

basically, everything in the lower 2/3 of the frame is screwed up. there are vertical blue lines covering most of the screen, and all that weird looking stuff in the lower corners of the screen is all "attached" to the players movement, meaning when i look around, it moves with me, like it's part of the gun. additionally, when changing altitude in the game (walking up or down a hill, etc) it appears as though you are walking through the floor or ceiling.
i'm only having this problem on this machine, and it happens regardless of whether the PC is running on the LCD monitor, or on my HDTV. and i have launched the game with my desktop resolution set at all of the following res's, without the problem going away:
856x480p
720x480p
1770x1000i
1920x1080i
1280x1024i
has anyone else experienced this problem, or have any idea what may be causing it?
EDIT: I just installed the 1.3 patch, restarted the machine, and then launched the game...and what do i see? a message from EA telling me the download the 1.3 patch, which i have already installed. WTF? where do i check which version i actually have installed?
