Well, just be aware that on Multiplayer it's going to be a little more lagged.

And if it moves faster, it's better for your practice. Slower missiles are easier to control.

not if you get used to faster missiles. you'll be too attuned to maneuver them rather than the slower missiles on multiplayer.

-lead the target and predict the enemies next move.
-join the same squad as your pilot and communicate effectively to target enemies.
-continue to click on the target and watch the missle destroy it.
-have the commander spot targets for you. (tanks, apcs, etc)
-save the TV missle for vehicles, and the .50 cal for troops.

they f***ed up the TV missles w/ this new patch. too many people complaining that they were gettin' schooled by choppers, so they increased the speed of the missle. Now its shorter on range and too fast to control. f***ing whiners.

next thing you know chopper spawn times will be increased and they will have less missles.. ( again )

                As prolly already mentioned:

LEAD the target - very important for targets @ range.

For helos, I find the best area the tail. Seems to be a decent sized hitbox vs. the model. I've had too many TV's go through the cockpit, rotor, body, etc..

Practice practice practice, you get better as time goes on, practice on moving choppers, thats the best practice then you can try for jets....

Good practice is playing wake in the chinese chopper and nailing BHs and the cobra and then go in and tv the essex cannon(s)...

Also, why would you ask permission to use that phrase in your sig but when turned down you used it anyways? You prove people from SoCal are idiots.

If they nerfed the tv missile then that sucks. Even pre 1.3 using the tv missile was a skill that had to be learned over several hours. A noob wouldn't have much success with it without prior experience.

What EA should done is nerfed fighter/bomber bombs and boosted their missile power. For example fighters drop 1 bomb and bombers drop 3 bombs. This way they would be lethal against helicopters but not so dangerous against vehicles.

Nerfing the tv missile was a bad move imo.

                        Re: tv missile

Theres a short time delay between your click and the actual correction of the missile's flight path. If you click too fast, you're asking the missile to deviate off a path it hasnt even gotten on yet. (There's also a bit of a correction as it leaves the missile rack).

So, its best to take an initial rough shot - wait for the missile to start flying straight - make your adjustments as it closes in on a target - and then *dont* oversteer just before impact.

Also, be patient with the shot. When chasing down enemy helis, wait for them to expose their sides (larger target surface), make a maneuver which slows or stops their velocity along your X-axis (as looking at the TV screen), or when they get a line back on your heli for their own TV. I agree that the tail has a good hitbox - its more forgiving of an errant missile. I'll also aim high on a heli because their pilot can pull upwards much more easily than push downwards - so if they attempt to juke your TV, they'll likely go high on you.

Learning to lead ground targets is more straight forward than air targets because tanks/APCs have 3 fewer degrees of freedom and are therefore more predictable. Top of the turret is a great target. I find I miss more often when going for the rear or the treads. The easiest of all targets, but most overlooked, is the stinger sites. Always gun those on approach because you never know if your pilot is going to turn your back to one and most enemies will head for it when they hear you coming. Cannons will knock em out pretty quick, and if you have time take out the TOWs too. Helps your team attack that point and I about wet myself laughing any chance I can TOW a heli so I imagine there's others out there like me.

This delay has SIGNIFICANTLY increased for me just recently. The missile was always fairly responsive, but now it's not. Any idea why that might be? I've done the following:

                          -Reinstalled windows
                          -Reinstalled bf2
-Changed mouse settings/sensitivity in control panel and in-game
-Tried a whole new mouse and new keyboard
-tried older patch versions, but still had the same problem
                          -updated punkbuster
                          -updated video card driver

I created a local server and had a few people join, and everything was back to normal, the delay was almost negligible, just like it was before. But when I play on a multiplayer server, the delay is huge. I even tried super low ping servers and it's the exact same.

It's really bugging me and I'm utterly baffled by the problem....

                            Re: tv missile

Since someone's already mentioned directional compensation, I'll be brief: the TV missile lags behind in terms of redirection following new input, so regardless of how fast you make new changes, try to do it smoothly. I've been trying to teach my friend (with limited success) and he consistently makes the same mistake: he will repeatedly click one area and then follow with a drastically different spot. The result is a very difficult missile to control...

DO not waste your time trying to TV jets, unless they are in a hover then they deserve it, other than that your just going to make the jet pilot mad by shooting at him and retribution will be swift...If hes a decent pilot...big if huh? :)

if you have a smart pilot tell him this 'As soon as i fire TV missile fly away so other attack heli cant attack us while i am TV'ing it'
