Yeah... what is it with some pilots thinking the best thing to do is fly full pelt around the map? I understand they need to avoid incoming fire and speed helps, but does it not occur to them that the gunner can't shoot anything at that speed? Sure it's dangerous to be hovering for a long period of time, but if the gunner is going to do his work he needs a bit of time to spot the target, line it up, and get the shot off. Charging round the map doesn't give the gunner much chance to see anything, never mind shoot it!

I live in hope that one day I'll have a reasonable pilot and I can get my helicopter ribbon, but so far it hasn't happened...

Ok other than war college ribbon, I need heli combat ribbon. I for some reason find this impossible to get. I play wake and try and get the cobra to go get 19 kills but for some reason I can't do it because I usually have a crappy pilot or if I am a pilot I have a crappy gunner and I get shot down by enemy heli TV guided missile. How do you guys get these 19 kills in helicopter??

Any tips?

It's called practice, over and over and over again. It takes a long time to get good in a chopper. Try a search on helo tips or something related, you can find all kinds of threads already on this topic.

just play commander and sit in a vancant transport chopper while you arty 19 ppl. Works well on some on the larger maps - where the transport choppers are forgotten about after the initial rush.

That does work, and it's the easiest way to get it.

Gulf of Oman and Sharqi Penn. The TV station at Sharqi is target rich becuase of the players waiting for a cobra. Gulf of Oman is wide open area perfect for picking off just about everyone.:evil:

Got a Mic? Add my xifre, I'll pilot for you on any map. While I'm more of a ground pounder now, I do have 80+ hours in the helo, and can help you get the 19 kills. Havok on Sharqi is easiest, but Wake or any other map will work as well :)

try sharqi i normally get 50 or more kills with the ah there

Insomnia Sharqi is a good map for it. Get on MEC and get in the gunner seat of the Havok. All the pilots are good because they don't want to crash and get the chance card of getting in with 4 other people standing at the pad.

You have to learn to "snap shot" the TV missile, even if the crosshair is "off", & correct in flight

Beginner pilots hold still, but get you both killed, veteran pilots swerve around & you stay alive but it may be difficult to gun for them, expert pilots use evasive manuevers, but "stop on a dime" to let you get of a good clean shot, & go back to evasive manuevers

Either way the pilot is flying @ HIS skill level, & as his gunner all you can do is learn to "deal" w/ it, or bail out LOL

I got mine as a Chinese gunner on Dragon valley. The pilot just kept going round and round the temple as I kept picking off guys continually spawning there.

But maybe that was just a lucky set of circumstances.

I got mine in DragonValley solo Heli flying for USMC (no not TV guiding :p)

Tried sharqi couple of times.. 121 pts as gunner in a round. totally cheap raping.
Now playing it as sniper, much funnier

As most have said, Sharqi with the Mec Vaporizing Gun. At one point, I was a pretty good gunner, but most nights I pilot since good pilots are not that common on the server I play. Even noobs who don't know how to TV can rack up a ton of kills with a decent pilot. Forget about the US side since you can lose TV Station and lose your ride. When I do get to gun, watch out... I actually got to gun on the Mec side the other night and had 87 kills in a round.

That's why I stay behind TV, and high enough where you cannot shoot at me. :laugh:

I got 67 kills the other day, including the tank and all vehicles near there.

and I still dont have my expert engineer badge
