Sniper spots are hardly a secret in this game. It's easy.

You get shot. You turn towards the red flash. You spot. Sniper revealed.

Even without that, as a sniper you get a feel for a map and where to look pretty quickly. Usually looking at where you would hide in that direction will allow you to find the sniper.

I don't know how some other snipers can stand staying in one spot though (and then go back after you've killed them!). I prefer to run around the map and just snipe wherever the action is, and will hang out with the rest of the infantry most of the time.

Since everyone is too ****ing cowardly, here's my list of spots on Oman :)



1.
Excellent spot for sniping the attack chopper and jets. If you have draw distance and texture filtering maxed out, you can see and kill anyone that's camping the jets.

2.
Great spot for sniping jets and campers. Victims get fed up and hop in APCs and tanks to get you after getting killed one too many times.

3.
I placed the 3 wrong on the map but the spot is to the left of the little sandbag guardtower. There's a small ditch where you can go prone in and be nearly invisible. Only problem is that people spawn right in front of the tower sometimes so you'll have to place a claymore.

4.
same as 1 but impossible to hit jets.


5.
Nice view of hotel, and whatever the other base is directly in front of it. It's difficult terrain for tanks and apcs to navigate through so you only have to worry about infantry coming up to get you.

7.
The little village has alot of nasty hiding spots and for some reason people rarely go there. I've been shot at many times by snipers that I knew were hiding somewhere there but were impossible to locate.

The ones closest to the MEC base and airstrip are not safe at all, and you may get one lucky shot before you get killed. When I'm commander and I ran the satelite scan, I'll definitely sound the alarm when I see a red dot close to my base, and I'll greet them with artillery, or even hunt them down myself. If those spots were successful for you, they had an idiot commander on the MEC side.

I always place a clymore under me that why if i get killed anyone come's and get's my kit boom i will get you from beyond the grave.

You'll be amazed how many idiots there actually are in this game. Spot 2 on Oman works 6 times out of 10 for me. When you move 80 meters to the west of spot 2 I get a 8 out of 10 succesrate in staying alive for the round. Allthough with the new cartillery thats going on, open spaces are a no-go area. I allready got a silent death from above once :)

If you want a nice sniping spot as Chineese try Snipers Ridge on Dragon Valley overlooking both the Essex and Observation Point CP.

I was actually thinking about putting together a thread of my favorite spots.. Just curious what others think of them.. are they good for sniping, or gettinf killed?

No point in trying to snipe if you dont have great spots to snipe from....

I personally prefer moving around a lot as a sniper. You get more kills and you help your team out more. A strat that works for me is sniping someone taking a flag. Once you see a flag go neutral I zip over there. This is easy on SF, esp. Warlord and Ghost Town. Anyway, people don't tend to move around when capping flags, so they are easy targets.

Since I started playing sniper recently, I'm usually pretty static and don't move around much. I just wait for my perfect head shot.

i hated Wake untill recently when i started to snipe and i really like the commander dropping jeeps it really saves you time. that is if your commander doesnt ignore your requests

Yea...i never camp while sniping..it NEVER seems effective...the camo is never the right color it seems, i always see a lil black dot on the horizon, point and shoot and i get a kill

You should be fine if you stay mobile and use trees n such as cover at Wake.

I agree...I am not a great sniper, but I find that moving around is the best way to not get found so easily...especially if you are shooting with the M95 and are close enough to hear that all mighty BOOM.

I'm an alright sniper. My biggest problem with giving away my spots is that I'm paranoid that somebody is going to check that spot frequently... or some newb will go there and give it away so other guys will start checking it.

When I become sniper I usually would check for other snipers at the places that seem most obvious they'd be... or places that I'd snipe from.

There's no way that I'm going to tell a potential enemy "Hey, I hang out there" so he can go up there whenever he wants and camp.
