COMMANDER KILLS COUNT! i'm not sure if they gicve you any extra points though. I seemed to get more points as commander yesterday....

you get commander kill points if you use your weapon only.
ya dont get kill points for arty kills

They do count, but not towards you final score in anything. I was able to get expert ground defense with two arty drops

Yeah....they count in your overall kill tally, but not in your round score. Good way to get oyur K/D ratio improved is to play some rounds as commander and give em hell with the arty.

Yes, it works well, i wont my veteran before the patch, half arty kills half TOW. When i went for my expert AA, i had a few kills with arty. Though i was kicked for commanding in armor, when i was hiding, i shot down an admin lol. Then i came back and had 18 kills, i guess i killed two with arty before i was kicked. You get kills added to your kit, but not to combat score. If you check the top commanders and compare thier kills to their combat score it wont match up.

Is this not the smae thing as stat padding? Not ranking up how you are supposed to rank up....ie actually get air defence kills with well...air defence? Some might argue this is just as cheap as a knife or pistol server.

Kills with weapons or equipment (C4, AT mine, claymore) show up under the kills column but you get no points for those kills in your score for that round. Kills with arty do not show up under the kill column and you get no points for them either. The points one gets while they are in the commander position are ONLY from the total points earned by their team divided by the number of live players. Commander points are calculated continously throughout the match and accumulated.

Globally, arty kills are tracked and kept against whatever kit you are playing and, if in a vehicle, are credited to that vehicle. Therefore, if one is in an AA turret, TOW or mounted MG while performing arty strikes, they can get credit for those arty kills against award requirements. This also applies to kit combat awards.

I am not ranking up by sitting at stationary weapon sitting as commander...

As mentioned, they count, only towards global k/d.

U don't get points for them, period. Points for CO's has been beaten to death....

total points earned by your team / # of players on your team = your score (2x for winning).

That's not the formula. Perhaps you should look into it more before claiming it has been 'beaten to death', as the debate is quite obviously still alive.

Commander kills with arty DO go towards your overall kill count, but not to your in-game kill count. Thus, you cannot earn class combat badges with arty, or anything requiring a certain amount of kills in game.

And regarding whoever it was that said they got the AA badge, that's not possible. Whether or not a kill was made with AA is not determined by whether or not you're in an AA when the kill was made, but rather what weapon was used to make the kill.

I won AA / GD ribbons sitting in the vehicles and dropping arty only. I also accidentally won the Vet. Sniper Combat Badge playing as commander only (and killing nobody expect using arty). It has been proven over and over that this is true.

i thought it was true but i couldnt remember if i had won any badges this way or not lol

Once i fired my arty at a player, I hit a transport vehicle right beside him which blew up and killed him. I received an official kill for that.
