Ok. The patch has come and the expected noise that always follows it is here. Along with some legit concerns, we're seeing a ton of mis-information. So here I am to point out some facts.
Claim: The patch is not finished and shouldn't have been released.
Observation: Every time a patch comes out, people report problems with installing, crashing, and various flavors of woe. What people should be remembering is that this happens EVERY TIME, no matter how stable the patch is. People do odd things to their systems then are shocked when the patch fails OR assume that because they are now crashing, the patch caused it. Generally these problems can be sorted out by a little user knowhow.
Evidence: The fact that I had no problems installing the patch or running after patching. The fact that no one I personally know has had any problems. The fact that several of the people that came to these forums SCREAMING about how much the patch/Dice/EA sucks have had their issues resolved by doing things that should have been obvious from the get go.
Claim: Nerfing Squadhopping has killed teamwork
Observation: It has done the opposite. Now squads simply MUST be able to work together. A lone SL is a dead SL and thus a major problem for the squad. Teamwork is now more important than ever since you need to keep that SL alive. You need to cover him, have a medic handy for revives, move carefully to avoid giving his position away if he's hiding. This is a whole new skill set based on in-game teamwork. I suggest folks start practicing.
Evidence: A couple great rounds I just played were I was SL and my mates did a fantastic job of supporting me. I haven't had so much fun with BF2 in a long time. This isn't exactly evidence since I'm basing it on personal opinion/experience, but you get the idea (I hope).
Claim: Dice/EA only cares about pubbers/noobs
Observation: This is partially correct. Of cource Dice wants their game to be something that cators to noobs and pubbers. There are A LOT more of them then there are us hardcore types. It only makes good business sense to target that market. The trick is to make something interesting and challenging enough to keep the vets involved. For the most part, I think they've done a great job of walking a very fine line.
Evidence: Yer reading this aren't you? If you're a Vet or a hardcore gamer, obviously BF2 has managed to interest you enough to hang out this long.

K, I'm getting off my soapbox now.
