Based on the outstanding quality of Patches will anyone here be buying BF2142?

Anyhow, I will buy whatever game my friends decide. If it was Battlefield 42 A.D., I would buy it and play with them.

2142 looks good, but I'm worried with the support from EA/DICE will give that game after its released. Hopefully the code they used for 2142 didn't come from the 1.30 patch.

Quake Wars and UT2007 look alot better and will probably play alot better on the same hardware.

I don't think so. Those games will require top end PC to play on High, that is not the case for BF2. 6800GT can play it on MAX. Don't even think doing that with QW. QW graphics are top notch, so the PC running it will have to be top notch too.

Yes you will be able to play QW and UT 2007 with average PC, but not on high setting. People that are complaining about BF2/Hardware and said they will buy QW, will hit a wall when they will run the game. Start putting mioney on the sidem you will need it.

I have an AMD 4400+ dual Core, 7900GTX 512MB and 2G RAM and I cannot run Quake 4 at the very top setting (Ultra texture, etc, etc, etc,). Same with FAIR.

The games development goes faster than the Hardware. These days, when a top game comes out, there is no video card that can run it at full steam. You have to wait 8 months to a year to get the Hardware that will do it.

I'll be buying it, I like the feel of the Battlefield games and the new objective based maps should be a lot of fun for me and my friends. Titan mode is going to rule. It's like Weapons Bunker for DC (my favorite map), but much more involved.

My suggestion:

Don't answer these kinds of polls until BF2142 releases. I'd rather that EA not have an accurate pulse on the community's feelings. Better that they make a game under the assumption that the community will eat it up and then we let it collect dust on store shelves. The more they think we will buy 2142, even with false community support, the more they will push out a (buggy, unfinished) product. Once it releases, we'll giggle as EA reports record losses.

And THAT is how you pwn a bad developer.

SH1T We've been waiting almost that long for them to get BF2 bugs ironed out. Then again by the time that happens my rig will be worth the same as a ZX80.

Certainly not my good sir, I bought BF2 because FH2 will be using it as a mod platform. I just happen to be playing BF2 while I wait, and think that EA is a crappy company. I mean no matter how much they try and fix things they
A. Don't fix it and cause other problems
B. Fix it and cause other problems

Both A and B both include that they add something we didn't ask for when they could be working on keeping hackbuster programs up to snuff and ironing out the many bugs that BF2 still has (like the said vehicle drops half the threads in the forum are about now...).

It's like they've decided, "We did so crappy on BF2, let's just start over on a whole new game, even more ambitious than BF2. Who cares how good we CAN make it, we just want our money now and we know millions will buy it even if it is a crappy game..."

EA is on my "hitlist" for companies to sabotage.

No way I am buying that. It is clearly a patched up game to offer an answer to Quake Wars which is going to be a much better game. A coleague played QW on E3 and says that it works great, looks great and that just made my opinion firmer.
