Every patch the "Connecting to Account Server" has got increasingly longer for me. My clanmates agree that on 1.3 it takes like 3-5 minutes to connect to account server now. I don't know what it is, but my friends computer which is on a new install of BF2 with the 1.3 patch logs in almost instantly... and mine takes no joke 3 or more minutes. Anyone know how to fix this? I tried opening ports on my router and everything (even though my friends computer is on my router and it has no ports open..) and it didn't work. Any help would be appriciated.

You're not alone.... It's something caused by the changes made with 1.3.
Stay the course, nothing you can do to fix it at this point. -

It has to be something fixable though, cause my friends comp logs in almost instantly.

Mine is the same as before, first off install the FULL patch if you didnt already (not the incremental) most issues are at the users end.Comment

Try this :
1 ) Open up the general.con file in \Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0001 and delete all your server favourites.
or
2) Run BF2 and go to your favourite servers. Delete all those that are listed RED. Every server in red will add 5 seconds onto the time it takes to connect to the account server.Comment

Your lucky with a 3-4 minute log in. I timed my last one and it was a whopping 8 mins.
Also, Ive installed the incremental. Are you able to install the full one over that?Comment

I was able to Full patch after a failed incremental patch that would not let me reinstall the incremental over it. So, that's a definite maybeOriginally posted by SMeeD

its probably just gamespy lag due to them pushin out new medals and ribbons for everyone. It'll level out again soon.Comment

happened to me.
Yesterday after installing the patch (incremental) it worked great, then today i went to log on and it took ages (not sure hoe long it ouwl dhave taken i reset my computer as it stopped responding to ctrl + alt + delete and alt + F4Comment

Try what ptegan suggested, worked for me. But of course I've only had to install the game like twice since its release, and even then I saved my profile settings from the original install. So I had alot of red favorites.
Worked great for me though. Connects in like 5-10 secs.

The problem is that if for example you have 30 servers in your favourites and 20 have yet to update to patch 1.3 then that's 20 * 5 seconds of an extra wait to log in.

Well, I had quite a few red servers on my list before 1.3, so it took a little longer than it should have anyway.. but after 1.3 it was just ridiculous. Thanks for this though.

i had to reinstall the game a few days ago, and i installed the full 1.22 patch. after doing this reinstall it connects in 5 secs or less. so i think reinstalling worksComment
