I see what you mean.........but.....You have to get out of your vehicle, oh god no whatever next actually getting on foot and fighting?

And yes they should have to place the charges but they are already set up in packs you just flick a switch on them so if it means putting a switch on it then fine do it.

But the fact you dont actually have to touch the thing you are repairing is what im getting at and is in no way the same as dropping a C4 on something, you dont even have to get that near it do you? just drive up hop into the gun on a jeep and wait as the damaged peice of equipment magically repairs itsself without the need for an actual Engineer.

I saw this happening on the SF maps....I think it still repairs but you are not getting the repairing sound and the Equip still looks broke. I sat next to the UAV Trailer, Sat Rig and Arty and reveived the REPAIR POINT but when I looked at the Item it was still smoking and broke.......until I drove away and looked back it was up and running like new.

Yes I just tested and its just the sound and the repair icon that are missing. Stuff still gets fixed

AFAIK there never was a repair sound or icon when you were parked next to commander assets. I play engineer a great deal as well and I don't remember ever hearing the wrenching sound when I'm parked next to our stuff that's been destroyed (which is annoying because then I'm never sure if I've fixed it up to 100% or not - usually I wait until I get the repair point and move on since that means I've fixed 100% damage, but sometimes commander stuff can be destroyed beyond 100% and I'll get like 3 repair points bringing one up to full). When next to damaged vehicles, as long as they're occupied, you'll get the wrenching sound, but never on assets.

If they broke the repair from inside the vehicles that sucks big time.

That'll ruin my helicopter repairs. I'd just hop into an empty Black Hawk, MI-17 transport, or a Z-8 transport and fly around touching each of the assets and flying off, leaving the Special Ops screwed. Meaning no kill and not enough C4 to do any significant damage.

I'll do more testing tonight. I'll stay much longer this time. All I know pre-patch it would repair pretty fast when I was in a vehicle. Usulally standing next to an asset for 3-5 seconds would at least repair it to 1% Health.

The tests I did before I wrote this patch was when I was in a jeep's turret or a passenger of an APC. Perhaps there's a driver requirement? (Not sure yet)

MAYBE, what they did is change the repair time to match that of your wrench when outside the vehicle?

I'll report back with my findings.

AFAIK, I've never seen any repair bar while I'm sitting in a vehicle, repairing something else. I tried sitting in a vehicle to repair assets, and saw nothing, heard nothing.

Has anyone seen a repair bar while in a vehicle repairing?

Does DICE just make this stuff up?

I get the wrenching sound (and a bar as well IIRC) when I'm fixing a nearby vehicle occupied by a friendly. Empty vehicles and commander assets repair as well, but they do not make the sound nor give a health bar.

Two guys in a tank and one guy in an APC next to an Artillery piece repaired it in about 10 seconds.

I think what they did was make it repair REALLY slow, like the speed at which supply crate repairs a UAV that had 4x C4 placed on it.

I'll do more testing tonight and verify how long it takes with just one person.

Dont come with your cliche comments "BF2 was meant to be an arcade game". To be honest, this is one of the few, if not only, good thing about the patch. It adds realism by you having to get out of your vehicle to fix the assets.

Anyways, if you are in a tank, what are you doing near the commander assets anyways (excluding your home base area and of course karkand)

it works fine for me. did it today on karkand. repair sound and all. Used a vehicle to bring up arty quickly so we could get some breathing room.
