I got it to load up, after reinstalling the full patch of 1.3. I didn't reinstall BF2

ok, now the game load, but it get stuck at 62% when loading the map.

Right, last night I installed 1.3 incremental, this morning I installed SF and I get the queer lightning shader error.

What is wrong?

Gonna try reinstalling SF, then if it doesn't work try the full 1.3 patch.

edit: right, so re-install didn't work, not surprisingly. Now i'm going to install the full 1.3 patch instead of incremental. If that fails, then I shall re-install bf2, then sf again, then patch to 1.22 until EA can sort themeselves out.

edit 2: The only way i got it to work was uninstalling both sf and bf2 then re-installing them. Now going to update to 1.22.

I used a full install along with full patch and i get the gay shader error. I noticed that my sf cache folder is no longer present, so i dont have a cache. Should i make a cache folder and copy my cache file from vanila over to the sf?

Weird. I ALWAYS have to reinstall when there is a patch (they always "fail" and I get "modified content" errors" but for the first time EVER, the incremental patch WORKED FOR ME!!!!!:p :p :p :p

Don't forget to delete your BF2 folder after you have uninstalled it. Or just remove every trace of BF2 from your PC.

I purchased SF yesterday and came up with the same problem. Here's how I fixed it (NOTE: I am away from my PC, so I can't provide you with the exact path information, I'll try and post it when I get home):

I captured the error message and found that lighting.fx was missing from "somefolder." I did a search for "somefolder" in C:\Program Files\Battlefield 2\ and found that "somefolder" came up 4 times: 2 in a mods directory and 2 in some other directory. In each directory, there was a regular "somefolder" folder, and a compressed "somefolder". The regular "somefolder" was empty, so I copied the contents from the compressed folder to the regular one. I repeated this for the other directory as well.

Then run the FULL 1.3 patch, otherwise you'll get a Map Mod conflict error when you try and hop into a game.

Again, sorry I couldn't be more specific, but I'll try and post a more specific fix later.

Seems to me that this is a BF2-mod problem. So far, it seems that only people who have d/l'd mods to BF2 are having the issue...intentional abuse by EA to those who use the game outside "official" channels????

I've never used a mod and I had the problem. I think the Mod folder is for subsequent releases for BF2 like SF, EF, AF, etc.
