alright, if i downloaded full, and i need the incremental, how do i get it off w/o destroying my computer?

I first tried the Incremental: Got CTD

Then dloaded full patch OVER the incremental:CTD

Uninstalled full game

Installed full game

Patched with FULL 1.3 No more CTD



********so the lesson here kiddies is Incremental is broken for some people

Same story with me. I patched the game, loaded it up.. finished loading a map (Dragon Valley) game crashes with BSOD.

Reset computer, reconnect to server (still dragon) map loads and play fine through the end of the map. Server changes maps, game crashes to desktop when the map finishes loading.

I guess I have to uninstall and reinstall... WTF?

I modded the BF2.exe to BF21.exe patched it like that, then i renamed Bf21.exe back to BF2.exe, but it wont let me patch over it

Ok, so i WAS getting the same thing and heres how I fixed it.

If you went into your BF2 folder and edited your bf2.exe file name to whatever else as one of the many tweaks suggest, and you run the patch without changing it back to the default bf2.exe, it will just crahs to desktop, as you have tried to modify a file that has had the name change, so therefor NO FILE MODS have taken place to that file. Change the file back to BF2.exe and run the patch again.

No reinstall necessary.

Much love, you beautiful bastard. Now I get to see how bogus and half baked the patch actually is, instead of cursing EA for being completley incapable of booting my game. I can blame them for what they squarely and sorely deserve.

It wont let me patch again after changing the name back to BF2.exe, am i missing something?

You need the Full Patch to run it again

I fixed my CTD by reinstalling BF2 under default directory and deleting the Battlefield 2 folder from 'My Documents'. It looks like I had a corrupted Logocache file that I could not delete. I took it out of 'My Documents\Battlefield 2' then I reinstalled BF2 and it worked. No more crash.

Not sure if this is the same reason why everone elses crashes, but I hope it helps some poor soul out there.

Ok so i'm new to the game and forum..and I am so lost...couple weeks ago I did the whole tweak guide in full from this forum and it was running sooo GOOD!!! Now I did this and blows my game away...question to ya fellas....when i re-install my bf2 should I install 1.3 full or should I go from 1.1 incremental to 1.2. to 1.3 etc? and then should I re-tweak my system? whats the best way it works? plus i am running a dual core amd so maybe someone can help me? thanks

I think the problem is that you guys installed 1.3.....tisk tisk

what if i reinstalled it like 2 times...im thinking of uninstalling and starting from the beginning...what would you recommend doing dogfight-uk? after i install the game should i do 1.3 full or do the incrementals? once that is done should I re do the tweak i am so lost and confused hahaha but any help is apperciated.

Just do the full patch and start playing...if you run into problems you might want to try a restart and go from there. When I get home I plan on patching from 1.22 to full 1.3 and playing immediatly.
