Crash to Desktop after 1.3

I have install new patch, incremental and full. I try to start the game and after the splash screen it just crashes to the desktop, I have delated the cache files but nothing has helped. Anyone else had this? Can Anyone HELP!!!!!!!!!

You installed the full over the incremental? No wonder it doesn't work.

Just tried renaming the Battlefield 2 folder from My Documents to force BF2 to create a new one but that didnt work ether.

You can use a little software called Windbg.exe and look in ...\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Dmp directory. Is the place where the game puts some .dmp files, so you can find out what is the problem.
Use "File -> Open crash dump" command.

I have the same problem.

I started with the incremintal and started to crash to desktop.

Then I downloaded the full 1.3 patch, uninstalled BF2 then reinstalled. Patched to 1.3(full) and still crash to desktop.

If I find a solution, I'll post here.

Ok, so i WAS getting the same thing and heres how I fixed it.

If you went into your BF2 folder and edited your bf2.exe file name to whatever else as one of the many tweaks suggest, and you run the patch without changing it back to the default bf2.exe, it will just crahs to desktop, as you have tried to modify a file that has had the name change, so therefor NO FILE MODS have taken place to that file. Change the file back to BF2.exe and run the patch again.

No reinstall necessary.

It wont let me patch again after changing the name back to BF2.exe, am i missing something?

No. It means that you need to figure out what isn't working on your system that is woking for thousands of others.

HAve you modified any files? It could be a quick, easy answer?

I modded the BF2.exe to BF21.exe patched it like that, then i renamed Bf21.exe back to BF2.exe, but it wont let me patch over it

The crash thing happened to me too. But I restarted my computer, and it stopped crashing. Try doing it, maybe it'll work.
