I could be very wrong but I was always under the impression that SABOT were like darts rather than shells for penetrating armour while HEAT was more like a regular shell relying on explosive power meaning that the sabot would be better on a tank and HEAT on an APC because a SABOT might just pass right through the latter without detonating. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

i suppose you could balance it by giving the APCs a zoom as well and infantry binoculars or a decent sight on their main weapons

I'm having a problem with the mod. Very weird. The problem is I cannot switch weapons in any of the jets. I get in and hit "F" and it does not switch from missile to bomb mode. The "F" key works in the tanks to change to sabot or heat rounds and works fine when I am infantry. It only happens when I get in aircraft.

            Must be a bug.

USI best mod so far? - I strongly disagree even though i like it.
It definitively needs a lot of fixes in terms of
              - map performance
              - Hind bugs (Laser missiles which are useless without lock, stuttering)
              - BALANCE of hardware
              - the T-72 Hud is just too ugly and it hurts my eyes looking through it
              - a few good maps, they are all a little too symmetrical, putting that huge crossing in the middle of the map is somewhat logical, but it's neither original nor beautiful. How about some maps where geographical advantages are balanced with stronger or weaker hardware. Or maps where US gets a few choppers and iraqis Mobile AA.

                In the game..

HEAT rounds are for infantry and transport vehicles (Hummer and UAZ variants)

Sabot is for tanks and light armor. Works good on helicopters also.

Remember, this is a game, so your not going to be mirroring real life all the time. So just use the rounds on the vehicles like I stated and you'll be roasting things in short order. You can use Sabot on hummers and that, but your just wasting the big hitters and you'll be missing them when you need them most if you do that.

The helis are not all that powerful. If your in a ground vehicle and someone is locking on you, get out, no longer locked. I roast alot of helis just with AT rounds and even the AA kit, you'd be surprised how good you can be just on your own if you play your cards right and use the surrounding stationary weapons in tandem with those kits (or the AA vehicles).

Last night was a good example of how well a good squad without vehicles can hold a flag. 2 AA guys and three AT guys held the West City flag on HogSmoke from 2 tanks, a Bradley, an Apache and the A10 with a squadie hiding somewhere spawning infantry all over us. We kicked their asses undisputed. Infantry is just as strong as any vehicle assault if you have the right kits and players, just a matter of having the right kit (or vehicles) for the particular flag or map in general.

For the guy that asked about switching weapons in a jet, try your number keys

There are some things that do need to be fixed, and I can't wait to get BMPs on the Iraqi side to balance out the Bradley. The T72 Hud is too cluttered, but that is an easy fix for them.

So basically you want to have them turn this mod into BF2? F**K THAT!
I think it can use some work, but it's a BETA not a full release yet. So quit trying to take a dump on something that is less than a month old.
In the first place, this mod is NOT meant to be BF@ at all, hence the changes to basically everything.
Rewarding lone wolves? I dont understand that.
The choppers are very suseptible to rockets, I've taken down jets and choppers with an RPG/Bazooka. Some of the things you want changed here are hard coded into the game. That is why a lot of people were complaining about the method EA used in making changes to the game itself. I think you should stick with BF2 if you like that style so much. The one thing that makes USI great is that it ISN'T BF2.

Re: USI - Post your thoughts/improvements here

Well out of 3 of those mods I rank Operation Peace Keeper to be the most fun mod.

                    -It has more weapons
-Better map settings (I like urban infantry combat more then massive tank battles)
-More infantry based you don't have to worry about bombers bombing you alot only thing you got to watch out for is helis
-Best spec ops guns the guns have silencers on them which is real sweet and they are real accuret.

As for US intervention its my 2nd most favorite out of the 3 some improvements imo that need to be added are...

-Better spec ops class make a optional silencer if this mod was based on desert storm in the 1990's then most likeley spec ops won't be a popular class inless they add more maps of the current iraq war..

                    -Add more maps

                    -Fix the weapon sounds

-Add more vehicles give us the c-130 gunship like in DC

-Make a infantry map with less armor

                    -make a night time map

                    -add stealth bombers, b1 bombers

As for PRMM I rank it 3rd

it still needs alot of work PRMM still feels like BF 2 vanilla with a few minor tweaks I didn't know what all the hype is about other then the balanceing issues being fixed and the max realism which is a good thing but can be bad if no fun stuff is added.

Tactical combat mod is a clone of PRMM except a little more frustrating people die to fast in it but the most fun thing in it is they converted the BF 2 SF special forces gravel hook/tow line into BF 2 vanilla.

I'm downloading it right now as well. Only complaint I have so far is that the mod is HUGE. 800+ MB wouldn't be that bad if there was a decent server. The fastes one I've found is ~13.00 KB/sec. I tried the torrent but as usual, nobody is seeding.

Can't wait to play it though!!

explain your logic to me - by your reasoning having one man operated vehicles is good for teamwork
These aren't hardcoded play techniques, in fact the team have already said they are changing the chopper configuration. I'd personally prefer if they used the highly successful bf2 helicopter pilot gunner combination especially seeing as the FFARs are very useful in USI
In fact asking for 2 player dependent vehicles is more reminiscent of Tribes not BF2 so your criticism is difficult to understand - I ask for something that isn't in BF2 and I'm told to 'stick with BF2 if you like that style so much. The one thing that makes USI great is that it ISN'T BF2' I'm confused...

improvements? get all the play-for-points players to start playing something other than ranked servers.

oh, and the hind is a lil herky-jerky not caused by ping. the apache is the shizznit!!!!
