I'm no expert on mice, but I'm pretty sure that optical is going to blow the pants off of mechanical any day. I'm not sure why an optical mouse would have spin unless you're trying to use it on a mirror or some other unsuitable surface. If I'm totally wrong let me know b/c I don't want to give out false information.

I was going to ask if that guy was smokin crack lol. A mechanical i'm sure they mean ball mouse. If a ball mouse was so good, why the heck did we go optical? Do they even make ball mice anymore lol?

I get M95'd out of teh gunner seat so I take a vodnik and shoot them both down and walk off.

Seriously, are there any heli pilots / gunners who aren't ****in assholes?
Welcome to the wonderfull world of trying to use the most sought after vehicles on the battlefield.

Go back to ground poundung now before it's to late.

Hey, when i gun on copters (which is rare considering theyre rarely used to support an advance), i just try my best. If the pilot crashes, oh well. If he does it multiple times, oh well, i just don't go fly (oh no. whatever shall i do without my precious helicopter?). Anyone who resorts to namecalling is probably. And yes, ball mice are still made.

I highly suggest observing successful (ie. top) pilots in order to better understand how to properly fly the helos. That, or create a local server to practice flying in, over, under and around objects: this way, you will get to know the chopper's limitations and better understand how specific moves are performed and chained together.

Ive never seen that glitch???? And im one of those gunners that would noob eject you if you where costing us the round because you where wasting the Helo. learn to fly on your own server or when its not a close round and the helo could tip the balance.

u know u can play on singleplayer with other ppl? it is a great way to practice using the TV missle. there r many benefits 1)u can invite someone into ur singleplayer who wont mind setting u up for tv shots all the time 2)u can tv anyone, friends or enemies, because u cant get kicked 3) no lag(i dont know if this happens to anyone else, but a lot on servers i get lag using the tv, but not in a singleplayer) 4)u can always get the choppa, cause the bots will get out for u if u want it 5)nobody tking u for choppa 6)nobody getting mad for crashing(that is unless u invite an a$$hole to ur singleplayer 7)VOIP works
the list goes on and on. its also good to practice choppa duels, if u get a freind and go onto dragon vally
all u need to do is start a singleplayer game, and then write down ur IP as it loads. then give it to someone and tell them to join. they will come into ur singleplayer game and u can go co-op or have choppa practice.
                    its great fun :)

The reason for switching is simple: optical mice do not require cleaning and maintenance to function 'properly', though one needs an adequate surface to use them.

However, I have found opticals too smooth for the rough motion changes required to fly helos properly. If you get a chance, try both on the same obstacle course and you'll definitely notice the difference.

I find the mechanical mouse more stable and responsive... but I suppose the disclaimer of "your mileage may vary" is necessary.

All i hate is gunners that will start shooting stuff with the MGUN which the MGUN cant kill. For example in SF taking down a chopper with an MGUN would take a long time. Key is the guy didnt see me yet and im following behind him trying to set up the gunner for a good tv shot. NOOOOOO. He starts shooting it with the mgun even though i have him perfectly lined up. STUPID PEOPLE. The enemy chopper turns around lifts the nose and launches a TV which is really good at hitting big fat choppers like the HIND.

Re: Are there any heli pilots / gunners who aren't ****tards out there?

Me and my buddy are quite a good team. We are on TS and squadded up for every round.

If we see 2 other people waiting for the helo, we won't try for it unless you know the other people waiting are idiots and TKing each other for it. And then, it we both don't get in, the one of us that did will usually get out.

Sometimes, there is only ONE other guy trying to get the pilot..and he doesn't realize that we are both squadded up and on VOIP. If I get pilot, I'll usually ask a few times 'Bail Out!' and sometimes the other guy will. When he doesn't, I try to explain that if he wants the chopper, that he should bring along another player to fly for him and I'd gladly give it over.

When my buddy and I EVENTUALLY (which is to say, rarely) get the chopper for the two of us, we absolutely KICK ASS!

It's a cryin' shame when some solo jerkwad comes along and then TKs us for it and either hops in and switches to gunner to see who will take him along for a free-point ride or tries to take off solo.

That's a 90's mouse? :) You must try a 2000dpi laser mouse (eg: G5), in most situations you have to lower the resolution because it is "too" rensponsive and sensitive... but i love to fly the chop with higher resolution and full sensitivity settings (ingame). Mechanical mouse are the past and a very poor solution compared to the modern laser mouse.
Returning to the heli controller: mouse+keyb combo is actually better than the joystick... i own a joy, and use it only to fly jets (rarely), there are some situations where the stick wins, but keeping it for the whole flight, mouse+keyb rulez.

I only get mad at people when they are complete and utter retards OR they cant use any of the weaponry effectively. They created a single-player mode for a reason.

G5 ? I'll have to give one a try, because so far every single optical mice I've tried have either spun me to death or felt like... well, crap. Who knows, if it actually makes a positive difference, it'll suck even more to fly against me! >:-)
