    Bf2142...reavealed

Okey, lately I've been crazed over this 2142 game and it looks great, by checking and cross-checking details, I think I've got how this game will play.

First, about the customization, I think i've got this hands down pat. Ok, any1 whose played GUNZ knows about the weight system, BF2142 uses this system...sort of. As you unlock guns, they both become heavier, more accurate, and most important, more powerful as you work your way up the "unlock ladder". This is true Most of the time, for classes such as the sniper, you might consider the heavier, ultra-accurate rifle, or if you want to stay mobile, take the ultra-light slightly weaker unlock. It goes by preferences really. However, you have a weigh limit, and there are HEAVY consequences for your choices. Example: Your a noob, and choose all the heavy weaps and armours. Bonus: your a juggernaut, bullets feel like rocks Consequence: Your a juggernaut, you move incredibly slowly, sprint for a 2 second period max, and, most importantly, your turning and reaction speed is slow. Ok, you can set ur mouse to ultra-senstive, and you will be able to turn faster, however, you still have slow reaction speed, as in a 0.1 second delay before your character responds - a looonnnnggg time in battlefield terms.

Cloaking, huge advantage for knife kills? I think not, if you'll turn your attention to the new game engine: sharper images, and a clearer picture, and most importantly, VERY clear shadows. Your character will cast a dark shadow that is very easy to target, and will most likely be shown on the back of your would-be victim. Also, don't forget about the literal loads of items that reveal/auto-lock on cloaked targets.

Back to the weight issue, some ability unlocks also have a weigh drawback, a larger clip is one of the largest, taking up 5/100 weights, so think twice before you skip the C4 (2/100) for the larger clip (5/100) BTW body armor is count em' 30/100 weight...ouch. Use it to compare to the other equipment you'll be carrying..

    Sounds good but...

It's waaaaay too much thinking for a mindless killing game. Arrrggghhh my head!

Why would something that renders you invisible to visible light still let you cast a shadow?

Aside from the fictional physics of this device, it just sounds implausible if you could make such a device that it would do that.

I think because light wouldn't actually pass through you. If you are cloaked, the device just makes it LOOK like no one is there (aka the idea of tons of little mini cameras and screens). So in reality, there still is an object blocking the transmission of light, thus casting a shadow.

Ok, let's presuppose the idea of nano-camera and emitters.

Wouldn't the emitters on the other side of your body send light out to diffuse your shadow?

nice man.. good info... and it's hardly gonna be a mindless game, what it seems to me as is a fps that you have to "thinK" to set up your "characteR" for pwnage

the invisibility cloak bends the light around you. light is required to make things seen. if light doesn't reflect off of you, you're not seen (like in the Predator movies) but you're still there, blocking the path of the light that would otherwise touch the ground.

It depends to where the light is bended. If it circunvents your body there will be no shadows.
