Okey, lately I've been crazed over this 2142 game and it looks great, by checking and cross-checking details, I think I've got how this game will play.
First, about the customization, I think i've got this hands down pat. Ok, any1 whose played GUNZ knows about the weight system, BF2142 uses this system...sort of. As you unlock guns, they both become heavier, more accurate, and most important, more powerful as you work your way up the "unlock ladder". This is true Most of the time, for classes such as the sniper, you might consider the heavier, ultra-accurate rifle, or if you want to stay mobile, take the ultra-light slightly weaker unlock. It goes by preferences really. However, you have a weigh limit, and there are HEAVY consequences for your choices. Example: Your a noob, and choose all the heavy weaps and armours. Bonus: your a juggernaut, bullets feel like rocks Consequence: Your a juggernaut, you move incredibly slowly, sprint for a 2 second period max, and, most importantly, your turning and reaction speed is slow. Ok, you can set ur mouse to ultra-senstive, and you will be able to turn faster, however, you still have slow reaction speed, as in a 0.1 second delay before your character responds - a looonnnnggg time in battlefield terms.
Cloaking, huge advantage for knife kills? I think not, if you'll turn your attention to the new game engine: sharper images, and a clearer picture, and most importantly, VERY clear shadows. Your character will cast a dark shadow that is very easy to target, and will most likely be shown on the back of your would-be victim. Also, don't forget about the literal loads of items that reveal/auto-lock on cloaked targets.
Back to the weight issue, some ability unlocks also have a weigh drawback, a larger clip is one of the largest, taking up 5/100 weights, so think twice before you skip the C4 (2/100) for the larger clip (5/100) BTW body armor is count em' 30/100 weight...ouch. Use it to compare to the other equipment you'll be carrying..
