Do any medics NOT use the G36E anymore?

What's the deal with the G36E? I've had SF since it came out way back in November, and I never saw an epidemic on Vanilla like the one I see nowadays, that being the G36E. It seems that EVERY medic uses this gun. I'll admit, it's a good gun and it's got nice, smooth recoil, but is there something I'm missing about this gun that makes every medic use it? I can't remember the last time, aside from myself or maybe a Private that is, I saw a medic use the default loadout, and I only see the L85 maybe 10% of the time. All the other times it's a G36E, and it seems because of this gun more people are gravitating to the medic class (not that I mind completely - more people to revive me ). I know when the PKM was a one-shot-wonder there were flocks of PKMers about, but now that the PKM's been balanced support is about as common (or maybe even a bit more) as it was pre-1.2 the G36E seems to be the fresh catch of the day. What happened between 1.21 and now that made the G36E so popular?

And, no, I'm not referring to just Karkand (although certainly it's more prevalent on city maps), but even on Songhua or Kubra I see a noticable increase in medics, and I've got to think it's due to the gun. 'Course, more medics on vehicle maps means more soft squishy targets for my APC or tank, I guess.

Anyway, who here now uses the G36E exclusively while playing medic and/or who plays medic more often because of this gun? I'm just curious because as I said before it's a good gun and although I have only used it a handful of times myself, is it good enough to make you want to change the kit you play or the gun you used to use?

I always use the L85 unless I'm MEC, then I use the stock gun.....best gun in the game.

Well it's a better alternative to the M16, I still prefer the AK when I'm MEC/China. Though I still see lots of people using the L85 since the last patch upped it's damage, it's like an auto sniper rifle.

I dont really like the medic guns except for the mec basic gun. I cant really stand using the american medic guns because they all suck a bit of a$$.

I'm forced to use the AK when playing on SF, but I'll pick the G36E whenever I play Vanilla, EF, or AF. It's absolutely deadly, and seemingly accurate as a sniper rifle. Why wouldn't you pick it?

As other have said, I stick with the AK's are MEC/PLA, but as USMC, I either go with the L85A1 or the G36E. As for the deciding factors?

The L85A1 is great in the opening moments of Karkand, or in close fights anywhere else. It's autofire abilities make it a boon in a shootout at punching distance, which is common on some areas of city maps. However, in long-medium engagements, the gun is LESS accurate than the G36E, despite the SUSAT (that's the scope).

If I'm expecting open terrain engagements like in the later parts of Karkan (island spawns, train wreck, suburb), or in virtually any part of Mash, or anything but the first two spawns in Sharqi, I want my G36E. It's three-round burst will kill all but a fully healthy soldier, making it a great "SURPRISE, MOTHER F*CKER!" gun to drop in behind someone, and a good defense weapon when you're bouncing from corpse to corpse. At long ranges, the single fire from the G36E is more accurate than the L85A1, if not on first shot, then on second and third (even counting in a short breather). I can drop people far better at medium-long ranges with the G36E, and it's good for all but the circle o' death fights in the opening carnage of Karkand.

Now, the SUSAT on the L85A1 is useful for spotting, or for very long range shoot outs, but if you want to do that, get a sniper rifle. You're a medic, get in there and save your people!

(Oddly enough, I use primarily the L85A1 in Wake... must be the either v-long range or "oh ****" close range fights of that map.)

PS: This is a quote from a British soldier, complaining about the L85:

The early rifles had many problems; I have heard many horror stories such as that the plastic would melt when cam cream and insect repellant was applied, that the rear upper receiver and trigger mechanism housing were made of such poor strength that you could squeeze the walls together and prevent the bolt carrier from travelling down the recoil rod assembly. I have heard that the top cover was made so flimsily that it was common practice to tape it down to prevent it opening randomly during firing, even that the lack of a magazine release catch guard meant that the magazine would often release itself when making contact with your webbing!

EDIT: Of course, the AK101 is the best gun in the game. Good accuracy, controllable deviation, and good damage. It should be the unlock, because I would never turn it down. Hell, give it to the snipers, with a zoom, I'd have better luck with it than that blasted Dragunov.

I love the G36E It just feel so right. And yes, I do play medic to get that gun! I do my chores reviving and give medpacks though, so not totally ego. :) . Besides, medics keeps the squads alive.

The M16 or whatever it is, just plain sucks. Too bad that unlocks are disabled in CB rules:P man i hate this gun. AK is cool though.

I use the G36E most of time. It seems like I get killed more by the L85A1 then G36E. I will resort the the AK now and then, but just prefer the range, grouping, and burst speed of the G36E.

I like the stopping power of the AK though. It is mean when you are in tight areas.

So, to answer your question, I used to see alot of G36E's on the field, but over the last couple months, I have seen less and less. I feel like I am the only one that uses one now. Most of the time, if I pick up a Medic Kit, it is the AK or L85A1.

I think, I was looking so forward to the L85A1 as my first unlock, that when I got it, I was very disappointed. Never learned how to love the thing like I have learned other weapons. I know it is good in the right hands, but it is just not my stick.
