I know the netcode is bad, but this is getting ridiculus

Played some Karkand today, and I have only one thing to say. FIX. THE. DAMN. NETCODE. Several times the server failed to get any input from me what so ever. Simply didn't happen. On one occation I went prone to revive a team mate, and went to use the paddles when I suddenly stood up, got the G36E in my hands and started fireing. Seriously WTF?! How the hell could it have missed that I went prone and switched to paddles?!
Also fired an entire mag of G36E bullets into a stationary target, getting confirmed hits (smoke and "x") on every burst, yet he turned around and killed me in one shot.

For the entire time I played my ping was below 20.

I get this annoying crap all the time and my ping is usually 20-30ms on rock solid SBC DSL (**** AT&T, those treasonous bastards). Sadly, I don't think that BF2 will ever live up to Counter-Strikes godlike netcode. CS has its quirks but you cannot deny that it trumps all other games and it has years and years of tweaks behind it and many more to come.

Same here, has happened many times to me. So i just leave the server and find a better one, thats the only advice i can give. :/

You need a large amount of Upload to satisfy the cookie monster gobbling your packets.

That rock solid SBC needed to get at least 200K upstream before the small problems went away for me.

I've always had 400k upstream :)

I dont have a fast internet connection and I USED TO HAVE lag, ect. I turned off the stuped firewall (ZA) and the lag dissappeard COMPLITELY. you should try it out...

As long as the only thing you are doing is playing BF2, you should be ok.

Make sure you have no torrents running, music/file shares running, IE window running, just BF2.

Not sure if this will help but I have cable modem connected to dlink 604 router for a firewall. When connections start acting up with those symptoms I will turn off my cable modem, router and computer for 30 seconds. The start the cable modem first and wait for 4 green lights, then start the router and watch for blinking lights. The start up the computer and go to start, run, CMD. This will take you to the command line. The type IPCONFIG /release after which type IPCONFIG /renew. What I am trying to do is get an new IP address. Sometimes it improves my connection problem and sometimes not. When not, I just go to bed and try again the next night assuming the server connections are just out of wack. Hope this helps someone.

Im getting 608 up and 6114 down but will be changing the gateway to a faster one for more computers to be brought online soon.

I think there is alot of EA-BLOAT either in the game or on our computers with all the spyware, adware, firewall and crap running in our processes.

Ouch, I don't know about that recommendation...

You dont need a firewall when playing BF2. Especially if your system is not cutting it. You would be using resources that would better be used for the game instead. Hackers want to get into places where they can learn something, they dont want to see your pr0n collection.
