Re: Nerf down planes?
I don't mind being owned by planes but I do wish people had more of an interest supporting their ground troops by controlling the air.
Carrier AA needs a bit of a boost though... quite hard to protect your runway with that thing which kinda negates it's point. While there's easy points to be had at a carrier you can count on people raping it.Comment

Re: Nerf down planes?
No they aren't. They also don't. Jets can easily be downed by S2A missiles. Not to mention there is not "2 hit" situation going on. One S2A missile is plenty to down most modern fighters. Jets are simply not designed to take fire, they are designed to dish it out quickly and get the heck outa' dodge; also to provide cover for Helo insertions and other measures.Originally posted by UnderpantI hate to bring the in real life card into this, but jets are supposed to own the battlefield.
...also, since we are playing the reality card.
-Jets should have to land to repair and rearm.
-Jets should be downed by "ONE" S2A missile (Although, I have heard of a rare case of an F-18 Hornet making it back to saftey with only one wing).
-Jets should have any idea a lock is being engaged by S2A missiles until the missile is launched.
-Jets should be a lot faster.
...the list can go on and on. Point is, the reality card is pretty dumb. You cannot use it to support only one of your points if you're not willing to apply it to every other "realistic" factor.
I don't agree. Every newbie "should" be allowed to fly them. Problem is, every newbie on the ground should be able to assault against them with an equal footing once the proper armament is aquired. Currently, even when you mount the weapons designed for Anti-Jet purposes you still have a 10-25% change of being the victor; that's me being sligtly liberal.I agree, I wish not every newbie could fly them, and I wish there was even a sort of licensing system.
Also, I cannot answer that poll because it's extremely biased. It could be that a "Part-Time" pilot such as myself notices that it's far too easy to destroy ground units and rarely do I have to worry about a counter offensive unless there is another Jet in the sky.
...maybe add in that option and I will bother to vote.

Re: Nerf down planes?
It's often that I see pilots with scores over 100 while the next highest is somewhere in the 60s or 70s, so I think planes are a problem in that respect. They souldn't be nerfed in any way, though. I think if man-portable AA was added to the game as some sort of pick-up kit, the problem would be solved. Then again, it'll never be added, so I guess I'll just wait for the mods to rescue me.Comment

Re: Nerf down planes?
Carrier rape is not an equipment problem. Jets, Black Hawks, Cobra, and the carriers own self-defense guns. That is more than enough power to defend the initial ground troops reaching the first flag or two.
The problem is the stupid jet pilots zip off to start their harvest of points and forget about the rest of us. Then there's the solo idiot that takes a BH to a flag and bails out and the BH goes into hover mode for 5 minutes (fixed in patch 1.3). The Cobra guys are typically useful but still don't quite understand that they exist only to support the advancement of the ground forces. The problem is with people and the programmers can't fix that.
