We're talking about what is more difficult.

    a)Arcade style shooter helicopter
    b)Real-life helicopter

Unfortunately, I seem to be in a minority for voting option B.

    This concerns me greatly.

Seems that BF2 is being made into a more easir game for those that compalin enough... I have no issues whatsoever shooting a plane down or if able to get into the air taking one down via Jet...

Lowered the requirements for some medals and rank points, cmon' it's gonna get to a point not far from now having a server full of 4 Star Generals.

This isn't a complaint mind you... just seems that those who've had the game longer is getting the short end of the stick for actually meeting the first installed requirements... gave us something to look forward too.

Squad hopping I agree is needed to force teamwork but whats next forcing only certain class choices once it reaches the gun limit of that class?

Just seems they are going in the wrong direction... I realize its fun to get items but if I was hired for 15.00 an hour at a job and 1 year later I have gotten a rasie to 16.00 an hour and they hire someone new and they give him 16.00 and hour... I may have an issue with this... Just an analogy.

Thats called Salary Compression and you cant do jack about it. It's a fact of life. The skills you have are worth 16.00 an hour now and were worth 15.00 an hour a year ago... new guy comes in with the same skills at the same level, why shouldnt he make 16.00 an hour?

        Sorry chief. Horrible analogy.

I agree with half of you. The other half, I understand what your saying but I disagree. That one guy is just flat out wrong though.

Yeah, maybe games more like Longbow 2, not BF2 lol. There's things like rotor wash, dealing with torque, and so many other phenomena - BF2 has the basic concept, but it's not even close.

So lower the requirements for play and making it easier for anyone is okay? May be a poor analogy but was all I could think of...

                a little vague :) but, funny. :)

Bf2 has turned into a catch22 situation damned if you do, damned if you don't.

                  Re: BF2142/1.3 patch..TOGETHER

I agree that there are lots of similiarities between flying helicopters in BF2 and irl. I've never flown a real one before (obviously) but I've seen plenty of videos of helicopters in flight and the basic physics (read: enough is simulated to get you flying with just a joystick) of helicopter flight are just spot on in BF2 although it's obvious that DICE truncated alot of the pretentious crap that would be better served in a true flight simulator. At the end of the day it all boils down to mathematics. It would be logically possible to create a simulation of the entire universe provided you had enough processing power, memory and knowledge of the mathematics that makes the universe tick. Not that that would be technically feasible at the moment but anyone who thinks that realistic/semi-realistic helicopter flight cannot be simulated in modern day video games is ignorant.

Back on topic, I think 2142 is gonna have enormous balance issues when it is released. Getting your ass kicked excessively in a brand new game by all the vets is nothing new; but compound that with the fact that the vets will more than likely have many unlocked clips, health, armor and whatever other **** DICE threw in there on day one and you've got an angry crowd of noobs. Don't be surprised to see the amount of whining on the internet to increase tenfold when 2142 finally released.

maybe the nerf is in the j-10 and thats it?

also - i personally feel that it takes too many bullets (from other jets) to negate a jet.

Flying helicopters in BF2 is ridiculously easy, if any one says it's hard, try playing DC (I'm not DC is more realistic, it certainly isn't, helos were mixed out of plane physics).

                      Being a good pilot in BF2 is a no-brainer.

The key element that invalidates a comparison of BF2 chopper flying and real life is the seat of your pants. I have never flown a real helo, but I do have a competition driving license and race SCCA, but I can't drive in Gran Turismo for s#$t. The visceral experience is completely missing. In most cases, what separates a good pilot/driver from an ok one is the instincture feel they have for the vehicle.

I can't beleive people think flying a helo in BF2 teaches you anything about helo's IRL. Hello!? There's like 4 buttons and a mouse to control the thing from start to go = not hard at all.

Anyway..... Titan sounds similar to that bf42 map with the two aircraft carriers and the winning team was the one who sunk the enemy first (or ran out of tickets)

As for all the unlocks, didn't we hear about these 18 months ago when BF2 was being developed? Undoubtably the 10 coolest features will be stripped and then potentially reintroduced as expansion packs - or disguarded altogether. I would take pretty much anything they say that is in the game with a sizable spoon of salt.

Coolness, they're going to nerf jets...woot to all us people without expensive joysticks and a poor ol' mouse n keyboard.

I'd like to comment on BF2142...no matter how much they try to keep us calm...this is really scaring me. Look, I like games..period, but I'm not crazy about them either..I play sports, I'm in all GT, have a girlfriend, and other friends to stay in touch with, and I just made it to TJHSST(look it up ) Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology foolorz..I really wanna buy Bf2142 but the interview given on Gamespot really bugs me.. 42 unlocks is ALOT, and the other "features" that you can unlock are: faster/longer sprint speed, HEAVIER armor, more ammo, more health, packs/equipment, weps. Ok, this sounds like a gamer's dream but hell to me. It bascially does this...42 unlocks=MASSIVE GAME TIME. I play 1-2 hours per day if I'm lucky and don't have soccer practice, but i expect to be owned by the crazy gamers who play about 3-4 hours minimum, with these unlocks, by the time I START the game, vets with heavier armor, more ammo per clip(its true, its an UNLOCK) will be pwning every noob only to get higher and more points. I don't think I can compete.

                            Feel Free to comment.

Getting back on topic. I hope to heck they don't have 42 unlocks. This would be really bad for the game. STAT PADDING will ruin the game, because everybody and their momma wants the new unlocks. Big mistake by EA/DICE. All weapons should be unlocked from the beginning, same thing with ranks. If unlocks and ranks are available for all, this would cut down on stat padding and cheating.

I agree. Stat padders will truely be compareable to cheaters now because you, I and everyone else knows that they will have everything unlocked on day one. When you make silly goals like unlocks difficult and time consuming to obtain there's gonna be alot of discouraged folks out there that will take the fast track to victory. What's the point of legitimate players "working" their asses off to get all these unlocks when they can do it all in a day? What's the point of getting your stats wiped if you can have all of your unlocks and awards back the same day you get wiped? There is nothing that BFROE or EA will ever be able to do about it until they either start hardware banning these bastards or ditch the stats system altogether. Only then can we start talking about how cool the new unlocks will be.

A great way to even up the sky would be to make damage have actual reprocussions. If you get hit far enough you should loose controls as though actual damage was made to the plane. For example, you get hit 2/3 of the way down and you lose one engine or a tail rotor, half-way and you lose some of your stearing ability.

It would make it more even and it would be a cool implimentation of reality into the game.

I agree though, I DEMAND life patch 1.2!
