Well, Karkand has its limits, whereas all maps with a transport Helo open up all different kinds of spots.

I like to take a transport helo and 'halo' drop onto places you cant normally get...although some hacker inevitably sees me with his P-90 and kills me with 1 shot from 200 metres damn hackers ruin this game.

I'm a n00b sniper and trying to get to grips with the best way to play this kit. I'm terrible at it now but hope I can improve with use.

My problem isn't so much the locations (which I try to vary a lot... moving if I can safely) but actually getting the kill shot. I can snipe much better with the M16 or G3 for example. I even snipe with my PKM quite well. I've unlocked the M95 in the hope I can do better with that but the re-fire rate is quite slow.

Where are you guys aiming to get the kill on a stationairy/moving up-right target?

Yea cant stand hackers, wat is the point of hacking on a great game, or is it beacause there noobs, that answer is the right 1 i think

Jonny mate, try not to hit a target until they stopped, then simple - aim for the head. take your time....

The M95 is a junk rifle, however, once you master it, its great. Sniping a pilot out of a helo or jet is satisfiying...but rare. The L96A1 or M24 are the best rifles in the game.

Although sometimes the SVD and the Type88? are great sniper rifles up close

HAHAHAHHA oh hehehe mate, that got me laughin me guts up - you told him to use every rifle in the game!! you're right tho, M24 or L96 are the most accurate/easy to aim/have most early success.

Ahh cheers! I'll keep plugging away then. If you do find yourself running about though please do just pause ever now and then and take in the scenery. It's a wonderful looking game and it's a shame people don't seem to want to take the time to see it .....

The sniper, along with all the other classes, is very powerful if used right..

Just figure out the bullet drop, how much to lead depending on distance. Once that is sorted, you will have to learn that the landscape beheind you is twice as important as that infront of you. Your ghillie can be effective if you're not dumb, and by dumb I mean laying ontop of a hill crest. Everyone will see that chewbacca is there, and thinks: "Easy kill!"

Thats pretty much it, the other skills is something you will learn with time, such as finding out where that shot came from in a matter of seconds..

Quick noob question, how the hell do you zoom in with the snipers rifle? (sorry to jump into your thread)

Stupid question I know, but I've only just started sniping recently, and lost my manual.

(Easy to get to, hard to get killed if your careful, good score if accurate, my favourite atm)
On clean sweep, play as US and take a rib from the main base and hop across the the island with the bombed house, sit in there and snipe at the two land points (with them rocket launcher things) and if your long range stuff is good you can get the guys on the hill behind them. I had 5 arty drops on me once (****ed there cmdr off no end) and an APC trying to get me, both failed (luck really), I was the only one there, had a score of 25-0 by the time we took the first flag. You can get your APCs in easier if your taking the guys out who are in the rocket launchers.

(Easy to get to, easy to get kill if not carefull, good score if accurate)
On Sharqui, if playing as MEC then spawn at flag by your arty and take back round up to hill ( the one that leads you to the water tower) dont sit on tower, too well known to others but you can get some good scores by hanging around there.

(Easy to get too if hotel is take, never been killed here, need good accuracy)
Sharqui again, if the hotel flag is take and the tv station is not then (and it pains me to give this up as I never been found here, once had another (enemy) sniper go prone beside me and never seen me, knife anyone) spawn at hotel flag and take the road along the docks toward the tv station, there will be a turn leading up to the con site, go half way up and hop over the armco barrier (on the tv station side of the road) and go prone, you should now be on the slope ( the one leading down to the route around the back of the station). you can camp the station here and get a fairly decent score but you need a decent aim as all you can really see are the siliouttes on the roof.

Well being a karkand junkie with this and 2/3 other accounts i've found most other players simply dont mind being shot a few times from a distance b4 they get vengefull.TBH most times i dont even bother to run and hide unless i think i can get more kills by doing so.....for instance many a time ive faced off 2/3 ppl with no retreat available....sometimes you need a retreat....But for me as long as i get say 3/4 kills to my death i must be helping the team and doing my bit.
My point is i spose not to have silly sniper rules of where to be and how to be.....like any other classes its how dynamic to situations you are that define how long you live and how many fraggs you get.

I appreciate all the responds guys. BTW my first sniper round summary after I unlocked the L96 was 9 kills and 1 death (artillery). Not much but not bad neither considering I'm still noob sniper. I love the L96!

I almost exclusively have been sniping for the last month and this has been my experience....L96A1 is my weapon of choice. Most rounds I get 10 to 20 kills and only 3 to 5 deaths. Shadows are your friend! Pick spots on the ground that are not high traffick areas. Claymore high traffic areas like staiwells, the bottom of the tv station on Sharqi, breaks in walls, etc. I always put out my clkaymores then either camp a flag to defend it, or hunt for snipers. I would bet that probably 25% to 50% of my kills are idiot snipers who go to the tallest building then lean way out over the edge! If you are gonna be on a roof, GET AWAY FROM THE EDGE... if you want to live. Also, on Sharqi I love sniping people on the top of the tv tower. They always stand still for some reason, like they think they are out of range. I have sniped them from the alleyway dozens of times. The funny thing is, after I shoot them once, they usually just stay there like an idiot. oh well....(ULM4LYF)- L96A1-(SOME STATUE-LOOKING NOOB) One more thing, head shots are sooooo satisfying, especially when it is some guy in a hummer or vodnik as a gunner just spinning madly and I one shot kill them. They are usually spinning so much that they can't tell where the shot came from so they can't pinpoint where I am!

if you were talking about my post then you need to read closer. All of the rifles are good in certain situations, like I said..the M95 for pilot sniping (otherwise its junk and innacurate), SVD and Type 88 are good in close encounters.

The L96 and M24 are good for medium-long distance.

So yeah, I told him to use every rifle, but gave him reasons why. How is that funny?

Was on a wake only server last night and consistently got around 60 kills, 5 deaths sitting on the US island with the arty, it's like shooting fish in a barrel from there. Finally got on the sucken boat up by the chinese arty, you see some guy wandering over the hills and take a shot at him, the first thing he does is go down the hill, closer to you lol.
