    No hit reg

    Hey guys

I am an experienced veteran of Counterstrike, but I will admite....a complete Battlefield n00b

Bought BF2 yesterday......and i am v impressed with the game in general....

one prob tho........i never seem to get any bullet registration on any other players...........

In CS, that could be caused by bad 'rates', and a number of other variables.

has any1 else had any probs with hit reg?????

Its a problem with the net code bf2 has low hit detection.

          What are your pings like?

Bad ping WILL lead to bad 'aim'.

Try running a 3rd party server browser like All-Seeing Eye for more accurate pings as sometimes the in-game browser can be a little inaccurate.

            at all?
are you sure you're connected to the internet :P
            just kidding
BF2 suffers from packet loss because of the amount of net traffic it has to generate - thankfully the code is robust enough that it only affects people with very unstable connections or bad lag
you can compensate for your ping
"When in-game bring up the console and type the following command.
            "SettingsManager.floatSet GSDefaultLatencyCompensation 0.1"
Of course the 0.1 means 100ms. So, press tab, look at your ping and replace the 0.1 with a more accurate figure eg. "0.04" (for a ping of 40ms). Remember when typing the command, don't include the quotes ("") obviously.

I don't think i've had any hit problems. I do wish they'd make the sniper rifles more powerful though. Like the AWP in CS

                    no they shouldn't
then everybody would play as a sniper because the weapon would be to powerful

****tiest netcode i've seen in ages. Not dedicating my whole connection (6M/525K) to bf2 leads to incredible jitters, enabling ingame voip messes up connection with 90-dergree-turn lagspikes even when no voice is transmitted etc.

The parameter named prolly affects client-side prediction and 'smoothing' of things. I guess if you turn it to zero you see people warping from point to point (if it turns off prediction / interpolation and shows only the real locations of other players.)

You probably dont get good hit reg because you havent learned how to maximize your accuracy. In bf2 you have to be prone and montionless in order to be accuracy. If you shoot at people while moving and standing up you wont hit anything.

Hey, I was having a problem the other day on karkand with the M95. I was sniping and my shots weren't getting the little 'x' thing. However, my targets were receiving damage from my hits. The only time the M95 would display the 'x' is when I killed them with the rifle.

Its got nothing to do with that bf2 has crappy hit dectection thats why EA/Dice are bringing in someone to fix the net code for this next patch becasue none of there people can fix it.
