:) Hello to all, I thought it might be of interest to anyone with a Cyborg Evo Wireless joystick that the makers of BF2 assumed, given that most people use keyboard and mouse for infantry control, that people wouldn't want to use a joystick to control the infantry. They've still allowed you to assign parts of your stick to controls, for the movement, but you'll note that the one thing they don't list as a control for reassignment is the aiming/looking. This is because in Infantry mode, the only control you can use to aim is the mouse.

Now you can program the hat switch on the stick to pretend to be a mouse, using the programming software that came with the stick, if you like. Just open the profile editor, right click the POV option in the list of controls, click Mouse and then set the sensitivity slider to around 75%. Save the profile, call it Battelfield 2 and then load it into the stick by right clicking the stick icon next to your clock on the task bar and then left clicking the Battelfield 2 option in the pop-up list. The POV will now control the aiming/looking in the game.

Saitek certainly have excellent software then...I wish all joysticks were as configurable out-of-the-box.

Sure..simply modify the files so that you have to hold down one of the joystick buttons to achieve the mouselook effect.

Personally, this is the method I use. That way, I can mouselook incrementally and when I let go of the joystick button, THEN my view returns to center.

I found this earlier and it worked GREAT, no changes needed for my saitek. My issue is, i reinstalled and now the pov axis' are reversed. When i push up, it looks left, and left is down and so on. The strange thing is, the the seetings are correct until i get in a jet. In other words, the movements are correct if u move it on infantry or the mouse on my desktop. Any ideas or insight would be greatly appreciated because this utility makes flying great.

Hey Talus, i'm using a Saitek Cyborg Evo Force, and would like button 6 will be a "spotted" command. You can call it a mini-macro (Q+LMB) if you would like ^_^ So how can I set it with Joy2Key?

I never got around to making my tutorial yet have I?

Thanksgiving was full of family visiting .. so I got a bit sidetracked.

AFAIK you cannot do MACROS with JoyToKey...so you'd have to use a macro app like autohotkey, or a piece of hardware like a nostromo, or G15.

You could simulate simultaneously pressing the Q key and the left mouse button much like I did for the mouse look function...but I don't know if it would catch both presses in the sequence needed to perform a 'spot'.

Simply enable 2 instances of JoyToKey. In 1 instance, map button 6 to Q and in the other instance, map button 6 to left mouse click. Voila.

There is another joystick app that I recently discovered that MAY be able to do macros...I can't use it because it completely disables JoyToKey when I install it, but you can try it:

Yes, editing the controls.con file can give you some interesting key combos.

I don't have enough buttons on my joystick to spare and I already have FULL commo rose abilities with my current setup

Hey i have a question but this is very offtopic but i have a joystickdesigned

like a ps2(dual shock/vibration/pcjoypad) and i was wonder could i use a configuration file on my deltaforce:blackhawkdown i want to use the analog sticks sorry for being a nobb poster and all so plz do'nt flame and i do'nt even have b2 except for b2mc on ps2 so can you help me out?

As a follow-up on an older post in a re-curring topic, last night I finally gave JoytoKey a try. I'd been using Joy2Mouse for months, mostly out of fear of tackling what wasn't really already broken. I wished I'd switched to JoytoKey way back then! The response time is noticeably improved.

As an aside, it never ceases to amaze me how there hasn't been another high-end joystick to come along emulating the long-discontinued MadCatz Panther XL (to date the only stick designed for FPS gaming thanks to its built-in trackball which completely removes the need for a mouse, such as while in infantry mode). Two hats (8 buttons), 4 trigger-type buttons (1 for index finger, 1 for pinky, 2 for thumb), 5 more buttons surrounding the trackball, and a throttle -- 17 buttons in all to work with before applying Joy2Key to expand their versatility even further. Though they're discontinued, they pop up on Ebay all the time (eg. http://cgi.ebay.com/MadCatz-Panther-...QQcmdZViewItem). There's a huge cult following for it with MadCatz techs upgrading them as sidework with USB connectors, etc. I recently upgraded the trackball mouse to the Logitech MX510, and it's like there's another veil lifted between me and the spark of gaming. I'm half-tempted to snap up a second one in case mine ever dies. Just had to throw that endorsement in -- I now return you to Joy2Key emulation!

I'm using Joy2Mouse (I'm not sure what the difference is between that and Joy2Key) and I've noticed the response time is a little faster/better with the keyboard than with the stick. Using the dots on the carrier for a point-to-point measurement, if I side-step (strafe) left to right from one point to the next, I get there faster using the A or D keys (keyboard) than I do with the stick.

Now, my stick is an unusual one, in that it's designed for FPS games (has a built-in trackball to replace the mouse features), so you might not be using your's when you're on foot as I would. However, movement is movement, so that slower stick response time would also be true when in the air or in a land vehicle. I monkeyed with the JoytoMouse axis sensitivity, but with no effect.

So, I'm wondering, have you noticed the same degraded stick response time using JoytoKey (guess you'd have to measure, as I did -- kind of an unhappy surprise...)? There are other emulators out there, as well, principally RBJoy, that I haven't tried. Perhaps it's the application?

Got your POV thing working, Talus, great job! I have just one little issue -- when I am in heli and use hatswitch to look around, it works but it is not smooth; there is a brief jerk in the POV motion, as though the speed of the motion is changing once suddenly. This does not happen when I use the hatswitch to change my SOLDIER'S POV when NOT in any vehicle, but only in heli (I haven't tried jet.)

I tried several things in the JoytoKey config files, but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Guys, mouse look is awesome and being able to map it to the hat switch is even better. But the default setup is for mouse look to disable the flight controls when it is activated, is there anyway around this so that you can mouse look and still use flight controls at same time?
