    Medic, best infantry class?

I cant for the life of me wrap my head aroudn the concept that Medic is the best infantry class..but more and more Im noticing this.
Classic example is the infantry litmus Karkand.
You can play a medic 2 ways in an infantry situation..point monster heal/revive machine..or infantry beast.
Which confuses me do to the fact that most games the situation for the healing class is "hey you have heals your not meant to engage like an assualt guy"
I hate to make the comparison, but lets put this in a MMORPG sense..
Doctors/White mages are usually gimped weapon and HP do to there supposed role as "support", there gratifacation comes from assist the team.
Now with BF2 its like taking the healing powers and then throwing in the speed of a light class (no armor) and the end game best sword in the game
    (G36E-AK101).

If you engae a medic from a distance, he'll just dip off and heal up and chances are with the incredible dmg/acc. of his weapon he'll pop back out and snipe you off as your pumping a ton of bullets around him.
CQC situation a medic is still an incredible opponent do to the fact of bags at his feet for quick insta heal or the ability for his weapon to be dead on target for a head shot.

So many other classes were given weapons not of the assualt caliber due to there added class items.
Engys get shottys since they have explosives, wrench, and ability to be self reliant while operating a vehicle.
AT, same deal..trade of a gun usuable for all situatiuon since they have a rocket.
    Support, terrible accuracy, slow
Spec Ops..given C4 yet are squaishy, accurate gun yet on the dmg lite side.

so everyone has there yin and yang..yet Medic really shines above all classes.
only downside is the lack of armor..yet 2-3 more classes share this lack of armor so they usually take different tactics like sneaky and sniping...but a medic is given the ability to be the lead assualt person.

And that lack of armor is irrelevant since it usually comes into play in 3 situations..Armor is good for surving a fire fight and not walking away with 1 health bar, entering a fight with less then 100% health is possible with an armor class, and lastlyability to survive a fire fight do to the protection and extra dmg resistance..
But these 3 situations go out the window when it comes to medics..enter a fire fight and sustain dmg, heal up...entering a fire fight with a bit of dmg, heal up before hand..and lastly, most times the notice of armor isnt even noticed cause when you do die its a barrage of bullets eating you up to quick for you to say "yay my armor saved me"

Seriously think about it..go to your local infantry server and watch the power of the infantry medic as opposed to the true infantry classes (assualt, support).
Sure the true infantry classes have there "dominance" but its totaly outshined by the positive features of a medic such as self heals and god like guns.

IMO, Id nerf medics ability to self heal so many times in a given time, and Id nerf there guns down to a level that makes there support role more of a job rather then a luxury.
This nerf would hopefully bring back the assualt class to what it shoudl be..an assualt class.

lets be honest..how many times have you encountered the medic that picks his class for the assualt/heal aspect rather then the job of tossing you a bag.
Its all to common to see this..

i wouldn't call karkand the litmus for infantry

the best infantry class? Its a coke vs. pepsi argument.

i can't stand playing medic - i'd rather play spec ops.

I definitely use medic for assault for the above reasons.

Support rapes medic for all around killing ability. More bullets, infinite grenades and armour. Try it and see. If there are enough medics around to keep you alive, support wins.

Things have been nerfed enough. The whole reason they're the way they are now is because the assault class was nerfed. If you think medic is so great, then play medic.

Damn the man! Save the medics!

I completly agree with you Peoplekillingmachine. In infantry combat there are no other kits but medic. If I could decide, I'd give GL the same damage as hand grenade to make it useful even sometimes. Nerfing medikits wouldn't be a bad idea either. The way it's in PRMM is good IMO.

              Oh no. Don't nerf.
Oh, and there is no perfect infantry class. It depends on an individuals skill, choice and situation. I myself am well-rounded with every class.

Best infantry classes are Medic, Support, SpecOps and Anti-Tank - IMO and in no particular order. Assault should be, but since they've been toned down, really don't get the power they deserve. I don't really think that one is particularly better than the other. All have their purpose for the situations and have their drawbacks too.

I do, however, think that Sniper and Engineer are the worst infantry classes, while I'm sure there are some that disagree. Snipers are deadly from long-range, but not so much close; whereas Engineers are more useful close-range than long. I believe the other classes to be better balanced than this, depending on the weapon and the situation.

                  Re: Medic, best infantry class?

Less bag if need be, but leave the guns alone. The l8a1 is only good long to medium range. up close it's okay, but has plenty of times where it'll just spray around the intended target (partially due to how BF2 balistics works), and it takes a few hits to take some one down. The G36E is good close to meduim range. and even at close range it's hard at time becuse you gotta do everything in 3 round bursts, which sucks when you have no lean.

Also while it can be a decent assualt class, doing that means your totally avoiding your medic duties. If your playing smart, you stick to your squad, maybe run off to help some on else if they are close. If some one dies, you gotta go revive them, however you also have to clear the area if possible, or atleast have someone cover you, which means some one needs to leave the assualt part of your squad to get the revive in a safe fashion, or the whole squad holds untill the medic is done, and defends a area. if you blindly run around shooting and reviving haphasardly, you just end up giving the enemy easy kills.

if you assualt as a medic, and do run into a assualt, AT, engi, or support your going down, damn quick if it's close quarters. Dealing with spec ops is possible, but their guns are a bit more accurate, hell people are using the silencers these days. Avoiding snipers is possible, but due to the lack of armour, that one round means you gotta wait to get back to full health, which means moving back to do it safely, or throwing it in front of you and diving. A good sniper will wait for the bag, and snip you as you dive in. Possibly you get the bag, and survived 2 sniper shots, however now your slow and down a bag or two, and probably spotted. good chance it'll be lights out soon.

I've been medicing since the demo, and rarely even when I just focus on attacking, do I get a 2/1 kill ratio. more like 1.5/1 if I avoid all medic duties and just heal my self. which means things go wrong easier, because I'm not healing and reviving, and the enemy is more easily advancing. People I play with that go spec ops, and assualt, or even sniper, are easily getting 1/1 even if it's going rough, I've seen assualt guys getting close to 3/1 4/1 ratios. the ones that smoke, or flash at the right time, and mow through infantry with even the defualt weapons, actually I know some that prefer the defualt Ak101 assualt weapon to the unlocks, and racks up the kills.

To me I don't think it's overly powerful, I could deal with a bag or two less, even if it took a second or two to heal up. However if you got down that road alot of things could just be more realistic, and while I love tactical game, there would be too many things to change if thats what your aiming for.

I also don't see medic taking out armour columns with jihad jeeps or smart traps. Something I actually don't mind as a armour whore, it adds some tension whenever you see a buggy in the distance. However it's a major ability, hell C4ing helipads, or planes taking off or landing if they have to.

I think the pace and balance are pretty good right now.

                    Re: Medic, best infantry class?

i feel that the medic is a good infantry soldier but is no way as good in attack as assault, spec ops or support especially when ure a medic your usually looking for people to heal or revive to get your points up after all you might aswell be an assault or spec ops if your not going to do any healing. so if your looking for heal/revives you usually need to stay behind most of the action to heal the people that have just been shot

Keep the self healing! I agree that medic is a very nice class. Good guns, grenades and heal/revive. Ever since the game came out I havent really thought Assault was all that great due to no extra ability. Go medics!

                        Re: Medic, best infantry class?

Ummm, I disagree with your argument that the Engineer gets a nerfed weapon because he has explosives.

I wasn't armour whoring, I was run and gunning. The M11-87 rocks. I do realise there were minimal people on the server, but I've done it before with larger numbers.

I do agree that the Medic is a seriously cool player. However he is not over powered, the Assault kit is UNDER powered.

Look at the other players, like you did. The Assault is meant to provide direct fire support, (M203, GP-30, F2000 GL), they have distraction devices (Smoke, Flashbangs) and a seriously cool rifle (AK-x and the FN-2000, the M16 is also useable). Fortunately the

The Support provides indirect fire support and supression. (Almost limitless hand grenades and free ammo for everyone else) and a dangerous belt fed weapon. However the assault rifles are more accurate when needed.

The Medic has the same rifle as the Assault, but the added ability to heal and revive other people. This is overpowered ONLY because they've Nerfed the Assault so much.

Personally I think they should up the area effect of the grenade launchers. Give them SOMETHING back. While I'm 100% against instagib point blank jump shoot like they were pre 1.2, I still think they need SOMETHING to help them. I'll take the hand grenades and the self heal over the useless GL's and more armour anyday of the week.

Why? Free points for medic pack heals and revives, coupled with the awsome assault rifle.

Although with the large numbers of medic nowadays I've found the Support guys get more resupply's because people actually live long enough to use their ammo.

Seriously, upp the Assault GL's strength. Make it shine in combat, make th eMedic acceptable in combat but useful in heal.

I assume this is the new pre 1.3 "bitch bitch moan whine" topic or are we just testing the waters?

Look, if you just can't live with it, go ahead and nerf the medics, hell take away self-heal totally.

Just remember... dead medics can't revive or heal people.

So if you want the medics spending more time in limbo, be prepared to spend more time there yourself.
