The M1A2 Collision mesh is completely messed up

I’m trying to spread the word about the M1A2 collision mesh being messed up. Hopefully it will get back to the developers sometime. Though in any-case, here I am to explain what I’m talking about.

Back when patch 1.11-1.12 was released, certain things were modified by the developers. One of those things was the M1A2 Collision mesh. What they did was they made it larger or something. As a result, the tank now takes damage from every small or large bump, ditch, object or hill/ramp. Most of the time the tank take1-2 bars of damage before you even make-it into combat. Other times it will take even more upwards of 3-4 bars of damage. Why did the development team do this? What purpose does it serve to have your tank take damage from small bumps and ditches when the other tanks in the game barely take any damage from the game-world?

I talked to a few people who are also wondering why it’s like. We all agree that this unbalances the game hugely. Not only does the tank take lots of damage from the environment, but it also has trouble climbing small hills that other tanks have no problem with. Also the M1A2 is knocked out faster than the other tanks. I can knock out the M1A2 in 2 hits from any other tank. Though it will take about 3-4 hits from any of the tanks to take out the T-90 or the T-98.

A suggestion to why the developers Modified the collisions mesh is that they did it because people kept on driving the tank to the North West flag on Karkand by way of a back alley and behind a house in the area which I highlighted with a green box in the picture below inside the small overview map. Also, if you look at the damage bar you will notices about 3-4 almost 5 bars taken away just by driving the tank to that area.

So anyway, if anyone has any kind of way of contacting the developers that would be sweet, but also I was wondering what other people thought of this. This was actually already discussed on these forums before but not in any kind of detail. You can see that thread here http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showt...t=61911&page=1

Im pretty sure the dev's or someone in ea or dice looks at this forums, this is a know problem, they talk about it before the 1.2 patch, they said they are looking into it. But they dont want to fix something and mess something up. So aparently is not as easy as you would think to fix the mesh.

be an engy and repair the tank before you exit to go uphill towards the flag, to easy, quit complaining about something you can fix

the alternative is too filled with exploits to even be viable, roll down the mountain because the "enviroment" doesnt hurt the vehicles

I dont know about the colision meshes being screwed up but he is right in saying that the M1A2 is weak at the front. The T-90 is a monster at the front but the M1A2 is incredibly weak its stupid.

Re: The M1A2 Collision mesh is completely messed up

I just hope the collision mesh gets fixed so the tank is more like the other tanks. It's very frustrating when you get taken out in 2 hits before you even get a chance to fire on the enemy. It's Frustrating when you try to drvie up some small hill and the tank just stops there at the base and slowly climbs up. I may make a small fraps video later of the tank trying to get up a small hill. i might also record the damage the tank is taking when im just driving around on 'light' terrain. I now only drive the M1A2 when its absolutly necessary.

So if any of the devs at D.I.C.E are reading this, please find a way to fix the collision mesh and rebalance the tank.

Solution: Use t-90 with M1A2 skin.

                  SF ATV's messed up too.

I'm pretty sure they know this. They made an adjustment with 1.12 and it was a slight improvement. Have you ever noticed the green APC in special forces seems to fly around doing wheelies and stuff when you hit a bump the right way? The ATV in SF seems to handle like a bumper car on an electric track. The meshes for the chopper in EF are even more jacked up. They wont fix it for whatever reason, they are more concerned with modification of the current gameplay rather than fixing all the known bugs. 100% backwards thinking.

If anything the tank takes less damage now than it did before the last couple patches or so. If you plowed it into the ground it would take a ton of damage and now it doesn't take nearly as much.

about the tank damage part, I seemed to notice that M1A2 has a tougher turret than T90, and T98 has a tougher frontal armor but weak side/back armor. M1's armor seems to be balanced.

Re: The M1A2 Collision mesh is completely messed up

when ever i play BF2 i will usually drive the tanks or maybe an apc. with over 42 hours of total time using armor (tanks and apc's) i would say i have a decent amount of experience with them. if you use them as much as i do you would know that the M1A2 has not been modified since 1.11-1.12. though if it has it was very slight, because its just as bad as when the patches were released.

Personally i would really like to know who thought it would be a good idea to mess with the M1A2 in the first place, because it was perfect before 1.11. also, they modified the collision mesh on the t-90 and the t-98. it's the alittle things you notices when you use something alot and it gets changed all of a sudden.

Another thing that makes no sense is making it so you cant shoot through fences anymore with the apc turrets. you can just stand behind a fence whiule someone just shoot at it and misses every time, but if they get out and shoot their gun at you your dead...

It's little things like that that make no sense. it really makes you wonder what the hell the devs are thinking (or possibly smoking?) when they make design and balance decision like these.

to jump out of a tank is the dumbest thing ever because some one can kill you and take that tank and make sure it's not seen for the rest of the round, repairing from the outside is not an option when dealing with a valued target such as a tank or an APC. Also one unit taking that much damage while another does not is clearly unbalanced. Tourneys like 21CW resort to giving china's tanks tot he USA for many maps.
