What is the official policy on this? Is it illegal and against EA's Rules of Engagement or is it perfectly legal?

fine by me, ive been guilty of it on a few occasions. it alright cause usually the player who detonates the c4 dies in the process. Also can sometimes help the team out in a pinch. Tis also the gunners fault for not spotting the jeep and taking it out before it can squeek by for the kill.
but you should only do it with the horn beeping incesently ^_^Comment

The reason I ask is that I did it yesterday. It was a Karkand server, and to put it nicely we were getting our asses kicked. Now overall I was playing normal, placing claymore in strategic points, or giving ammo as support, reviving dead teammates as Medic etc, but when we were down to our last flag I just loaded up a Vodnik with C4. I had seen a cluster of enemy troops at the square. Unfortunately when I got there they were gone, but I did notice an LAV-25 coming my way, so I drove up to him, bailed and detonated.
I did die as the explosion catapulted the Vodnik wreck back into me (talk about getting your own back :) ), and the guy there called me an 'idiot noob' and put in a kick vote against me. :)
It's the one and only time I did it on that server, but fortunately It never passed.Comment

Kick votes never pass.
I never care when someone is Jihaading, nade spamming, spawn camping etc. Usually they are noobs and easy to avoid/kill. The only thing that upsets me so much is tk's for vehicles. The worst is when you wait your turn for a jet and some A$$hat shoots you out of the cockpit.Comment

It is not against the global RoE, but servers themselves can prohibit it. There's a section at the bottom of EA's RoE that reads as follows:

These are rules that are not enforced upon in EA’s public ranked servers but may be modified in privately rented ranked servers. These rules are decided by clan administrators for those servers and as long as they do not contradict any global rules enforced by EA are considered valid for those servers.
This would include but not limited to:
§ Artillery fire or bombing runs on main (uncapturable) bases may be prohibited.
§ Prolonged or sustained attacks on main (uncapturable) bases (i.e. spawncamping).
§ Using the Transport Helicopters to take flags (Blackhawk whoring or flag hopping).
§ Impersonating clan members.
§ Using C4 on jeeps, or other fast moving vehicles to take out other vehicles.
§ Clans may change or customise rules, provided they don’t violate the above ROE rules.

When Im a spec ops, all I do is jihad jeep b/c its the easiest way to take armor out.
Another thing I do as spec ops, is when someone is runing after me and shooting I just drop a C4 in front of him and kaboom!!!
But jihad jeep is perfectly legal, and people do it in league matches all the time. Its just a good strategy someone thought up, thats all. :)Comment

This is like every other thing people get accused of being a noob over.
Some self-important person comes up with the "gentlemens rules of engagement" in his head and anything that gives someone else a tactical or strategic advantage which he hasn't thought of or finds distateful is flag as "noob" in his <sarcasm>intellectually eloguent and stinging diatribe of "idiot noob" or "I'll Pwned you Noob"</sarcasm>.Comment

i LOVE making tankers give up on warlord. i did it for an entire round once. i got like -20 team points, but like 40 over all points :P but, the cool part: the tankers gave up, and then a new one would try a few times, give up, and be replaced by a new one.
they'd better not make it "illegal". i am so sick of this bfroe crap. "can i kill someone, is that legal?"Comment

Some people consider it a bit cheap, but few think it's as bad as some of the other cheap shots you can pull like spawn raping etc. I don't think there are that many who seriously have a problem with it - they just sometimes get frustrated to have their shiny armour vehicle destroyed.
I've never done it myself, but it sure looks fun! I've been the victim of it a few times though, and don't really have any problem with it.Comment

Next time use one of the smaller buggies instead of the vodnic. Even a Humvee is better. The faster the vehicle, the further it will roll after you jump out. I have gotten it so that I only die about 10-25% of the time when I use car bombs. (trying not to offend by calling it jihad jeep because I'm sensetive like that) I also use 3 pieces of C4 so I have a little extra pucn hincase I'm not dead on, but not enough to blast the car back onto myself.
It is a sneaky tactic, but when you have two pieces of armor with engineer repairing each other it makes for a very quick fix.
Another great use of C4 is as an anti theft device on armor. If you are spec-ops in armor all alone, place 2 pieces in a place where you can't see it. Then go cap a flag. You know an AT guy is going to hop out, so if he hits you and you didn't see where it came from, just hop out and hide. The AT guy will either demolish the tank while you continue capturing the flag, or he will wander out and hop in the tank. Then just blow him up and continue capturing the flag.Comment

The way to kill the Jihad Jeeps, place AT mines down. For example when we're taking the Hotel, I place AT mines in front of our tanks/APCs...therefore the only way that he can come at us is from behind.Comment

Well to reply to what one poster said, I wasn't doing it repeatedly, I only did it the once, and that helped break the stalemate on us a little bit. After that one try I went back to normal tactics.Comment
