    ECM. HA!

Modern missiles see right through it.

If planes had smaller turning circles when they slowed down...

That said, neither the Mig 29, the F35, nor the J10 served in Vietnam circa 1969.
It was also because they weren't allowed to use their shiny new Medium range missiles, because in order to attack a target, you have to confirm it as an enemy first.

You are right about the unreliability....I was watching a documentary and the missiles would sometimes lock onto the heat signature of clouds

Their kill rate went from 10:1 to about 2:1.

They put the cannon back in, back up to 10:1.

Should have been higher, considering the quality of Mig the North Vietnamese were flying. (Mig 19s?)

They did have a couple Mig 21s as well, but mostly the older Mig (if you say 19 i'll believe ya)

Missle tracking on the F/A-18 IS messed up. I can shoot them down, but I've watched missles do the same thing they do when being fired at the J10, where they will go right up to the plane, and then "bounce" off in another direction. Not sure if it's as bad as with the J10, but it is something that should be fixed.

Re: Fixing the J10: A realistic approach

                Two simple fixes:-

                1) Decrease armour on J10 by a LOT
                2) Make Dalian Airfield cappable.

The only argument against this is Colony's, 'no one would get behind me' I accept that but he's top 1% of pilots, a solution that solves 95% of the problem is ok?

One of the key issues I think is being missed is the fact that as far I can tell 1.3 is final call for BF2. Therefore anything more than a very simple solution is not viable.

How about we stop thinking about all of these ideas that bring the j10 down, and simply make the other jets better?!

Goddamnit, I don't want to have the equivalent of an f35 vs. f35 battle on Wake island all the time.

In the end I just want 1.12 back, with AA as it is now

Dogfighting back to 1.12 and all pilots will be happý. At least I will.

Yeah wtf was wrong with 1.12? The people who complained about bunnyhopping... dd'ing.... "noob tube" ... those are just excuses for people that suck. I never did any of those, and I never complained.

I really wish we could all just roll back.

I think one of the most ironical thing in the world is to watch modern BVR fighters duel with cannons. Cannon dogfight belongs to WWII.

You choose a target on your radar, you select your weapon, and you release.

In the case of the Mig, you can even fire 'off boresight', which means, you don't even have to be pointing at your target.
Actually, you are thinking of Radar (active/semi-active) guided missiles. The ones in BF2 are heat seaking (IR), you NEED a tone to get your missile anywhere NEAR your target, unless of course you uncage it first and release it anyway... Either way you need to keep a steady mark on your target before throwing away the tax payers money...

                            Signed.

It would be like Marines carrying swords into combat.
Air to air cannon fights are perty outmoded.

Jesus Christ you two. Most pathetic statements Ive read. Yet again we march the realism tune. Would you give up already? In real world youre down with one bullet, not eat them up as if they were candies.

One thing that would make me happy, is fix the missles so they actually hit the dam j-10..... Every time I am in an F-35 on wake, I get behind a j-10, unload missles, 1-2-3-4-5-6... The j-10 hardely does a manuever and doesn't even deploy flares and I'll be lucky if even 1 missle hits. Its like the missles suddenly turn stupid as soon as they come close to a j-10.
