well mr sir, this was more of a thread questioning whether anyone was modding the f22, not trying to get the labeling right. who cares if the thread is ten years old? if it is relevant, revive it instead of making new ones. isnt that what people scream at others for doing, making threads that have already been made? yes, i revived a 1 month old thread, because i know how to use the search tool. in fact, i made another thread expressing my desire for different aircraft to fly, and if anyone might be modding them.

why does it bother you is my question, and why did you bother to post with such an apathetic reply (that's rhetorical, dont worry telling me though, i dont care)? why not just let the people who want to discuss this issue alone. that way this thread wouldnt pop up among your subscribed threads. but nooooo, you had to come in and bring a negative appeal to the post.

this community is definitely on a downswing, and i am not so sure i will be apart of it much longer, especially if people like this keep rearing their ugly head.

say what you want in your defense archer, but you'll already be put on ignore. maybe the rest of the community will care what you have to say, but to the community i will say sorry for this rant. and one more thing, since you brought it up, the original poster had the official title of the F-22A* correct in his post just not in the topic's title.

The F-22A cannot be matched by any known or projected fighter aircraft.
I disagree with this totally. They tested it once against 5 F15's and they got owned. Have they ever tried it up against Russia's best? I think not ... bit to early to judge me thinks

Russia's best... isnt very good. WVR manuverability means little, and thats the only area the F-22 could be realistically challanged. Russian aircraft just do not have the radars, electronics, missiles, counter-detection ability(Stealth, in most cases), or force multipliers to take on the F-22, or most other american fighters for that matter, in BVR combat.

No, its their lack of economy that stops them from developing all of their good stuff. We don't even see testbeds with things like AESA, practical stealth, etc. Their testbeds are about on par with ECD's, though I would still take the Rafale or Typhoon over any of the russian testbeds, even fully developed. Russian radars, electronics, interfaces, and missile technology aren't very advanced. Russia is good at doing one thing on a plane great. Usually, this is dwarfed by other major problems.

because a major facet of their global strategy is the implementation of EMP. Its the same with their armour and navy. Almost all their fighters have analogue interfaces as one single EMP burst will knock out EVERYTHING the US manages to pack into their fighters. And if a US fighter loses its electronic systems - its done for

Its easy to say US fighters are better - its less easy to predict how they would perform if they were to fight in russian airspace.

Throughout the history of war, there has been some looming threat that would completely neutralize an enemy force, balancing the odds. Most of the time, these are overplayed.

This scenario is given all the time online. "Stealth plasma will make russian aircraft invisible on the cheap" "Long-band radar will completely make stealth useless" "lasers will neutralize air to air missiles".

Russia isn't going to start using emp weapons on a large scale anytime soon. If anything, they can be considered WMDs, and elicit nuclear responses, or at least large EMP strikes back, neutralizing russian ability to supply their forces or produce their goods.

Hell, people have been on EMP's for decades. The constant winner in war is sound strategy and superior forces, not secret weapons.

Yes, and the nazi's worked on it in the thirties as a way of possibly disabling enemy soldiers within a 100m radius.

Needless to say, it wasn't prevalent in world war two.

F-22 is IOC now, so yeah, should be in a mod. Probably replacing the F15.

lol all of this is a complete matter of your opinion - without any basis on documented fact haha.

But just to play on the irony of what you just said - how does a country coordinate any form of electronically guided response to an EMP attack when it is the victim of an EMP blast in the stratosphere above their airspace? thats right - it cant. And thanks to US protocol, knocking out the communication infrastructure within the mainland would cause a complete halt to global communications and thus global actions. It really is a matter of who stikes first and whose equipment can respond. And at this moment in time the majority of western equipment could not. The beauty of old soviet design is that, contrary to what you just said, it has taken the possibility of EMP into account and actually CAN supply their forces and maneuvuer goods from the national reserve under such conditions.

Russia probably wouldnt use EMP anytime soon - but thats only because a situation of open hostility involving them is too far off. But to think they wouldn't in an actual hostile situation is just naive

^^^ this has nothing to do with what i or anyone else has said and to compare it with the topic of EMP is really drawing it out of context. They are opinions and theories - whereas EMP technology is well researched and extremely well documented (if you research it at Uni, that is)

In March 2003, during a combat training flight, 1 F-22A went against 5 F-15C Eagles. During the exercise, the F-22A shot down all F-15's without being damaged.

Yes, it does. Your whole schtick is technological alarmism at its highest. Yes, EMP is a real thing. Its been around for many decades. It hasn't been prevalent in war though, and likely wont for decades to come. It will be considered a WMD, and any EMP attacks will be met by nuclear attacks(The US can launch nuclear missiles both before EMP's hit, and from SSBN's).

Besides, russia would have to use emp after emp on each sortie of american planes, over each fleet, each division, etc. It would disrupt a considerable amount of its own communications and supply ability(supply is incredibly complex, massive emp usage would wreak havok on trying to keep up with supply. Its not all about driving trucks to the troops).

EMP is as much of a threat as nuclear weapons. Yes, nations have NBC protected vehicles. A nuclear wasteland is still going to be hard as hell to fight in, no matter how protected you are. So will an electronically devoid one, in a world ruled by electronics.

You have to realize. Russian aircraft still use electronics in their missile firing, radar, communications, and many other things. They can fly, sure, but it doesn't do much good if they have to rely on flying blind, and jumping enemy planes with machineguns, or strafing ground units.

Russian tanks mainly use autoloaders. Thats sure as hell not analog. I believe some have the ability to manually load, but american tanks are loaded manually.

Russia would be commiting suicide by using EMP weapons to try to defend itself. It would be wiping out infrastructure and the majority of their military capability at the same time.

One last thing. Any sources on all this russian EMP work and counter-EMP work?

                                Re: F/A-22 Raptor?

[QUOTE=D|sso]ehh....and how the heck you suppose us to get a lock on it?

If-Stealth. How do we get a radar lock on it? In a BVR fight, any fighter jet is dead, only way to kill the Raptor is getting in a WVR fight.
                                - You are forgetting that all the AA missiles in BF2 are are IR seekers, thats why you lock onto flares burining oil towers etc.

And truth be told that is one aspect the Russians are ahead in air combat. Because radar signatures are easier to disrupt and hide the primary focus of Russian missiles has been to seek heat with, (in newer munitions) the ASSISTANCE of radar. This isn't to say their missiles will always shoot down stealth fighters, but the capabability is still there. Ultimatley in about 50 years it will all be gun combat and the need for an aircraft that is stealthy will be obsolete. After all why would you spend the extra money on plane that doesn't even have a person inside?

Back topic, there shouldn't be any need for the Raptor in BF2 anyway since the JSF is there. If the F22 were to do the things described then the F35 would be able to kill the J10 well out of visual range as would the phalanx (that's the anti aircraft system on the carrier). I'm confused as to why people wanted the harrier so bad in AF when the JSF IS the replacement and IS better than the harrier.

                                end of line

Sorry had to add this becasue I see to much of it on game forums. DON'T TRY TO BRING REALISM INTO A GAME THAT INVOLVES THE U.S. MILITARY. If games involing the U.S. military were realistic than aircombat would not exist whatsoever, enemy tanks would be destroyed in one hit by our armor and the only method enemies would be able to use ON A LARGE SCALE to effectivley kill our soldiers is suicide bombing in mass groups of civilians. Do yourself a favor conentrate on making the game more entertaining and not accurate, otherwise we have Battlefield debate the should the F22 be gray or black?
