Alright guys, acting on motivation from responses in my other thread, (http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48244) I'm informing you on my own personal favourite sniper positions in one of my favourite and most played maps, Strike at Karkand. Enjoy!
Also, please note that these suggestions are intended for USMC sniping. Many may be largely useless if applied to other teams.
Apologies for the abysmal graphics... blame EA, it was much better for me before 1.12.
Strike at Karkand
Beginning, no flags captured

This is one of my favourite positions in Karkand. A quick rush over the hill from the western US spawn point allows you to take up this valuable position.
The strengths of the location lie in it's versatility and protective elements. From here, you can easily gain a clear veiw of the road (pictured), the alleyway to the left, and the buildings to the right.
Protection is offered by the visual screen of the fence itself and easy escape routes (eg. to the right, up the hill, around the fence to the left).
The danger is in that people are likely to attack from the other side of the fence. If you see them coming, it might be a good idea to place a claymore and/or run toward the destroyed BTR and trees.
Beginning, no flags captured

An alternative to the previous position. Affords an open view of both alleyways and hills to the right. Danger from MEC coming from the left. Not my favourite, but a little less action-intensive if you're afraid of being rushed at or struck by artlillery.
USMC under attack

To be used if the USMC is being pushed back into their own bases by advancing MEC. This position offers a clear view of the main road, and easy view of both spawn points and the hills to the left. Also offers protection from the tree, and mild camofluage value from the bushes.
Hotel Captured by USMC, advancing toward Square

A handy little position the gives a view of both roads, and easy access to the west alleyway (through the fence opening to the left) and escape route behind you. Cover and camofluage granted by the obstruction in front of you. Danger from artillery is one of few drawbacks.
Square Captured by USMC, MEC advancing from Suburb

Handy for spotting and picking off MEC soldiers advancing down from the suburb, and firing on MEC shooting from above the cliff near the building straight ahead. Easy escape to cover, and claymore potential should you be rushed.
USMC advancing toward Suburb

A good place from which you can offer support to teammates moving ahead toward the Suburb flag. Also offers a view of hills to your left. This location offers excellent protection from camofluage within the shrubbery. You are extremely unlikely to be seen. Bad luck if you are, however.. not much in the way of escape routes.
USMC advancing toward Suburb

Alternative to above, advancing from a different angle. Difficult to acces because you have to climb the ladder facing an area usually highly populated with MEC soldiers. Once you're established, it affords a good view of the base itself and its surroundings. Easy access to cover, if you're noticed, which in my experience is uncommon.
USMC advancing toward Suburb

Another point, closer to the suburb flag itself, hard to access without proper distractions (eg, lots of teammates). Good view of area around the flag and the building, as well as the building's roof and the mounted machinegun. Rampway behind you can normally be safely secured with a claymore. Very low chance of survival once you're found and being bombarded with grenades should your buddies be pushed back.
Suburb Captured by USMC, advancing toward Train Accident

Approaching the flag from the south away from the majority of the action, on top of a train carriage. Offers a good view of the area surrounding the flag itself, and behind you for infiltrators attempting to re-take points like the Hotel and Square. Seems to be less noticably than under the carriage itself. Decent chance of escape if located.
Train Accident Captured by USMC, advancing over bridge

Simple transition from previous position. Offers a great view from an offset angle, meaning that you may get a shot at MEC soldiers taking cover from the majority of your teammates. Again, less noticable and less predictable than under the carriage, some cover granted from the carriage itself.
And, I'll leave it there. The round ends more often than not after the US reaches that point, and I don't know of many exceptionally good positions on the eastern side of the river.
Again, here's my tutorial on sniping, my list of Wake Island positions, and my stats.
Also, feel free to post your own positions (with screenshot, please).
Good luck, and good hunting in Karkand.
