This is not Halo. Imagine trying to find or get to one person running with the flag on the size of BF2 maps. Find another game for CTF or that bomb stuff.

It was fun. Hard for me but most people could manage.
All you had to do was take a fast vehicle, take the flag, and high-tail it outta there.

          CTF is against the ROE

any other type of game-mode would be great.....so yes, plant/diffuse bomb would be cool, and hostage scenerio would be cool.....anything in addition to the same-ol boring played out conquest

i can see ppl TKing for the flag now

            Re: Is CTF against ROE?

They should have made new maps for each Game mode like NovaLogic did with Joint Operations. That game had every game mode possible. Now if the gameplay didnt suck, I would still be playing that.

I mean Joint Ops had storys to go with the CoOp Missions. You actually had to work as a team to complete objectives, like placing C4 on strategic objects and assassinating War Lords.

From what I am thinking, there are not going to be any story to go with the up-and-coming CoOp Mode for BF2. It's conquest against bots. Why bother?

Other Modes w/ Maps By Joint Ops:

            Capture the Flag (CTF) Maps
King of the Hill (KOTH) Maps
            Team Deathmatch Maps
Supply Lines Maps which was what the original game is about Defensive and Offensive attacks

            BF2 has a section for GameModes now . . .

            Conquest and All

I love BF2. I think it is a good game; However, if EA/Dice would have made that little extra effort, they wouldn't need to make BF2142 for another year (In my opinion)!!!

Wow. You can DEFINITELY tell who hasn't played BF1942, nor Desert Combat.

Let me bring you up to speed. BF1942 HAD CTF in it. It also HAD coop in it, but that's besides the point.

CTF in BF1942 was a HELL of a lot more fun than Conquest. IF they put CTF in BF2, then I would bet your guys would NEVER play conquest again . . . conquest compared to ctf is so . . . BORING.

CTF was a RUSH in BF1942/DC . . . no lie. Try driving a dune buggy through a mined base, getting the Opps flag, speed out of there like no tomorrow - BUT WAIT. You notice there's a Mig-29 closing in, an Abrams behind you, and two other Opp buggy's chasing you out of their main. It's is the MOST fun you can have playing a BF game.

Hell you guys probably played No Fly Zone then. That was fun as hell. Two air bases, only Jets, 1 chopper, and AA. Try LANDING right beside their flag, getting out of the jet, jumping back in, TAKING off with about 10ft of space left, and THEN have the ENTIRE other team heading your way in various aircrafts.

Even those descriptions above do not do it justice. All I used to play in DC was CTF. When I heard BF2 didn't have it, I was obviously ****ed.

Now they;ve added coop . . . we can only hope for CTF. The issue is, is the ranking system. In CTF you got NO points for capping bases, as it served no purpose. You got 10 points for caping the other teams flag, and 3 points for getting your flag back. I can already see EA crying that it's not fair against those who play Conquest . . .

                What's next?

People wanting a plant and defuse the mode or how about defend or rescue the hostages mode?
That actually wouldn't be that bad, even though its called BATTLEFIELD 2, since it is a game, CTF and what you mentioned would be fun.

                  Re: Is CTF against ROE?

                  I live for CTF!

About the comment where it would be impossible to see a player with a flag on a huge map. What the BF2-DC-CTF team did was have a marker over your head. You probably wouldn't want the marker to be able to be seen from anywhere across the map, but within some range would be reasonable.

Having a CTF game would be modified content though, so the server could not be ranked. Unfortunatly we'll have to wait until a patch is put out, or until a decent CTF mod becomes popular.

I played bf42 since release and I was a DC tester since 0.3. However I can clearly see why DICE take out CTF and COOP: NO one played it.

CTF in BF is unbalanced enough. Try to break into an enemy base with tanks, aircrafts, helis, etc. And someone will put C4 on that flag. It's simply unplayable.

Um, if someone has Jets, tanks, heli's and Infantry to aid them in an assault, and they get taken out by C4, then FPS is not their strong point.

There is always a way around all tactics, especially when there is the possibilities of 32players a side.

For those who don't know what CTF is, perhaps a graphic would explain it better:

In the above USMC has to take Hotel FIRST, then Square, etc...

That means the flag at Square will not move until there the flag at the Hotel is at 100% USMC.

Sometimes in CTF you can make choices. An example would be when USMC owns Train Station. They can either take the Gatehouse or the Cement Factory. But USMC can't take the Warehouse until they own BOTH the Cement Factory and the Gatehouse.

You can still have people go to other flags, to prevent people from setting up, but you can't do like you would normally in Conquest mode where you would attack back bases.

Yes, CTF was LOADS of fun in BF42!! I'd love to see it here as well.

Is that the way it worked in BF42? I honestly just want it straight forward. 2 flags, and maybe a capturable base that only adds 1 flag capture to which ever side holds it at the time of match end.

CTF is one of my favourite gamemodes. SWAT4 Rapid Deployment being close second (RD is bomb defusal/ defense with multiple bombs). But I dont see it working in BF2 where main objective for most people are stats and not the mission...
