A note about commander drops

Hey, guys. Just a reminder for the community.

If you are commander and you are dropping supplies (or perhaps the upcoming vehicles), please remember that there is a northerly drift.

This means that if you want to pinpoint drop a supply crate on the crane or next to a team asset, place the point of your mouse a few meters south of the target spot. I say this because I know that a number of times I've had commanders graciously try to drop me a crate to a building roof or near my bridge, but then the crate either falls into the water or simply falls right past it into a ravine or into the road.

Its because the box has hammers in it and they gravitate towards the magnetic north pole.

Yes, it's consistently north. I discovered this when I was a commander when the game first came out. I was trying to repair assets with supply drops, but I found that they kept ending up a little further north than where I expected. Then I realized from actually watching the crate drop from the commander's zoomed satellite view that the crate would drift north based on where you clicked the mouse. After that it was easy.

Now I can drop crates on cranes, rooftops, between vehicles, and even on the oblivious sniper.

As a note to squad leaders, if you are going to summon a supply crate drop, do the following:

1. Check your minimap to see your orientation.

2. Face south and put the crosshairs on a point about 6ft (2m) away from you on the ground.

3. Hold T and request your supplies. If the commander accepts the request, they'll land 6ft north from your summon point.
