The flaw in the voting method (if it's similar to commander) is that those with higher rank will take it before you.

As for me stating the kit as though it existed, I was making a subtle reference to BF:Vietnam. In that version, there were 4 kits, but certain number of them could be on a map at a time for your team. I should have elaborated more.

Having a pilot's kit would be nice, but if there are no limitations to the number of them or if it is not open to everyone, then you will see problems.

In the mean time, just cap your flags and hold em.

There should be a certification course for air vehicles (like we have in the 1MC at bf2combat.net) to encourage proficiency and overall improvement: those that can, will... and those that can't, could... provided they train and pass the test. The class would then become unlocked for use in ranked servers. This is KEY.

After thinking about it, I agree. I suppose a priority system could also be put into place... so that certified pilots could "kick out" uncertified pilots: otherwise, if none of the former are in the server, the uncertified pilots could fly anyway. That would work...

Still, noobs should have equal chances of being in a chopper as a good pilot, we were all noobs at once u have to remember.

This is a BS idea, only because it encourages jet whoring to a further degree. Since the pilot with the highest rank will be the one who gets the jet, the ones who have used their jet whoring abilities to get thousands of points a week will always be the ones getting the jets. THose of us who only fly once in a while but still enjoy it, will be left completly out.

Not to mention this would cause a stat padding frenzy, since the highest rank that applies gets the jet.

I just thought there should be a downside to being the only one allowed in a jet or chopper. So you don't run of groundpounding. With the pilots kit you suck at everything but flying.

There are a couple of good arguments in here why it might not work to implement that system. The thing which seems to scare away most people is high rank = first to be elected. Maybe there would be different way of figuring out who is allowed to fly maybe it could alternate every round. Maybe they should just leave the spawnkilling fest we have now. At least now everybody gets a chance.

I agree if we're referring to "highest rank wins", but I'm talking about certified individuals having precedence over uncertified pilots: if the test is designed properly, only a small portion of the community could pass so in the end, it wouldn't change much. It wouldn't be nearly as bad as the commanding priority and would encourage stronger play.

no no no. If there was to be a "pilot kit" it should be an automatic kit that you get switched to when entering a helicopter or plane (but not for vehicles as everyone needs a hummvee some time). When you jump in a plane you are turned into a pilot and if you get out when being shot down you retain the pilot garb based on what plane or helicopter you got in.

For the chance to whore all things walking, you only get a knife, pistol and some grenades, maybe a smoke grenade too, but that's it. If you want more you have to ground pound with the rest of us otherwise don't get shot down.

The electing pilots thing is a crappy idea.

I like the idea, sorta. Limiting the number might work, but I don't agree with that. What I do like though, is a pilots kit.. With a light SMG, and a pistol, and some other stuff, would be nice. That way you could get more medals, and more awards for flying. :)

I think this is over the top. I have seen a better thread with suggestions, mainly about the TK-ing.
