    Whats the point ?

Go and do your homework, play some BF2 then get to bed at 8, so the more mature players can actually enjoy the game..

Good thread, and pretty much summed up why I don't fly anymore in pubs... Loved being a gunner for a guy in the cobra, fighting the havok, I've got my TV view up, looking at either dirt or water, and then being called names for not shooting that mp5 on the front of the cobra @ him. Great pilot - I could have tv'd his ass off the map, but you gotta fly around like its a damn F16.

Too many nub pilots and/or gunners, and then I loved having a great round in it, only to die, and then respawn and see 8 other guys waiting for the helo - as though they all wanted in on the action. Thanks, now I'll never be paired up with that guy who had enough sense to join my squad so we could talk, and he could TV too.

I'll stick to infantry now, and only on rare occasions will get in a helo, and they usually involve a clanmate, or at least someone in ventrillo with us..

I agree with about 90% of what has bee posted up here so far. However, there is one thing that I'd like to bring to light.

If you are in a clan and have a fellow clan member with you on a pub, PLEASE DON'T HAWK THE ATTACK HELO EVERY TIME, EVERY ROUND.

It's a pub. If you can't learn to share the equipment or can't stand to have a non-clan teammate in the helo with you, don't expect the rest of your team to show you any niceties for too long. I'm getting to the point that the clanners that snake the helo time and time again, even worse if they get shot down 20 seconds later, that I'm going to start sending you into battle with a little Special Forces "gift" attached to your fuselage.

If you are on a pub, you have to deal with the pub atmosphere. That includes sharing what you don't want to share, dealing with noobs and smacktards, and generally being submitted to the flaws of our species' gene pool. Humanity has long way to go toward progress, but it all starts with you SHARING THE #%$@ING CHOPPER!!!

This has been a public service announcement by your local [47R] players.

It's a joke, and also why on a map with choppers, the chopper whores will ALWAYS be in top three at the end of the round. It's like planes.
They do offer some mild satisfaction if you manage to handle the M95's horrible inaccuracies and headshot the pilot, but apart from that they are just a pointless spamming pain for everyone else because they are so over-powered.
A complete nub can get in a chopper and end up with a galactic KD ratio. All it proves is how dedicated he is to getting in the helo in the first place - that is the challenge.

EA / Dice have obviously taken note of the craziness because BF 2142 will see an end to all this, fortunately.

The thought of "Mature" players hanging around at vehicle spawns hitting their use-keys trying to get into the chopper first just makes me laugh.

If i'm pilot... I get a guy who doesn't know how to work a camera missle... and will shoot cannons at tanks.. and if they even know what a camera missle IS, sometimes they will shoot it, and I just see the missle go straight (So I know they don't know how to work it ).

If i'm gunner, I get a guy who goes straight PAST the AA... tanks.... cars.... helis.... (puts his back to them) and flies around like a madman, going 100mph past people... doing really random movements... while he expects me to actually kill people, and he thinks "gunner position" is where you look to aim a camera... or the crosshairs.

(If you didn't know... in between the gunner position and crosshairs, but slightly closer to crosshairs, is where you aim the shot for the camera)

Kind of stupid... lol, but I just don't see why people will TK for a vehicle, and then go off and just die within 5 seconds... I actually had this happen. I was on vent. with a friend, I was gunner. My friend got tk'd, and right after takeoff this guy rams into a BH and we die.

People should practice in single player, before they go off into a game and not know what to do. The people that suck, I don't care.. everyone has sucked at one point.. and I just go with it. But it just so happens, alot of people that aren't so good happen to TK for things (jets...helis... you name it).

Are there any good pilots here that like wake (I prefer gunner)? And by good, I mean someone that stays back from the action, aims me for cameras, gives me a steady base for gunning (by steady, doesn't mean you can't strafe, I just mean the jerky movements), and has awareness of what is going on around them.

Oh well, if you think you are a pretty good gunner or pilot and you love Wake, go to a server called "Dedicated Wake 24/7".
I play on that server all the time. I am a good pilot and a decent gunner, however I usually don't even bother to go for helicopter because 10000 idiots are waiting for it.

Re: People that go for choppers

I agree with the OP. Between the "bot" pilots often found on pub servers and the totally clueless pilots/gunners, it's hard to get any decent two-up action in the attack choppers. When you team with someone good, gunning or flying, you can often turn the tide of the battle, or even rout the enemy. Gee, imagine that, using a vehicle for war to actually rule the battlefield! A flying M1A1 without the armor!

A pet peeve of mine, when I'm gunning, is a pilot that decides he's going to cap a flag and hovers in place without rotating to scan for threats. Situational awareness in the attack choppers is a necessity for staying alive. Gunner should be constantly scanning for targets AND SPOTTING THEM so the pilot knows where to fly.

While I prefer gunning and am proficient with the TV, I can and often do fly. I'm not the greatest pilot but do know what it takes to line up a shot for the gunner and how to scrape the grass, water and rooftops with the skids/wheels.

                I'll fly with you, anytime...

i try to give tips to those gunners who dont seem to know what they are doing....but they dont like to listen, or i as pilot spot enemy tanks or heli's cuz sometimes they just dont do anything...and we die...

Nothing bothers me more than a pilot that hugs the water.. I like having a nice open view incase the pilot doesn't see something.

And, something that no one realises.... everyone likes going low, and thinks its harder for jets to kill, than going high.. Let me tell you... from experience in both jets (alot) and heli's.... When I am in the jet, I LOVE when pilots fly low.. jets fly fairly high, and it is easy for them to just dive down and shoot them with the cannon. When jets have to fly upwards, they run the risk of crashing into you, and it just plain feels akward. When you are LEVEL with jet flight, its still not as bad as being low, because you could do a barrel roll or some flips and that jet can't touch you.

But I just got Xfire... I never use it.. so I re-signed up. Name is: xmetallicaxguitarstx if you are interested. I don't really know how to work Xfire.. so, yeah.

Youll appreciate X-fire capabilities very soon. Its an amazing piece of a program.

I hate pilots hugging water myself. My personal problem in a chopper is that Ive flown jets too much, so I have the need to keep flying forward at all times.

Other than that, I fly for the gunner first and foremost, even if I am not a very good pilot.

I always hug the terrain. It's diffcult to for pilot to find the heli without using radar due to the camoflague, and builds/trees can confuse missile very well.

on high attitude, TV is useless (range limitation), and you are a cannon fodder for good pilots.

It's fine if the pilot has situational awareness of everything and will pop up for everything, but i'm talking about the ones that fly low, and STAY there, and especially hate the ones that stay low and move fast and are the "i'm not looking back" type. It's damn near impossible to kill someone with a pilot like that. Those pilots normally also blame their gunner for not doing things. How do you practice in single player? I remember trying to but all of the maps were in 16 player mode and no helicopters or planes were accessable. So i ended up just practicing on an empty server with friends.
                              Its dragon valley I think...

HAHAHHAHAAHA I literally laugh at your post.

Choppers are overpowered NOW? NOW after any and every AA missile hits them 99.999% of the time, and even using flares they still hit alot of the time?

NOW, they lost so much armor, FAVs can laugh at them every time they explode...it was so easy before the HP nerf...

NOW, the tv missile range is lessened and less missiles...and you STILL call them overpowered, wow what a noob...

I just recently took a poll on what the most difficult vehicle to use and be effective with and choppers won over armor like 50:1 vote ratio and still beat jets....

Honestly, so many people just plain suck in them, it amazes me how you can say that, especially after the uneeded 4 way chopper nerf, missiles needed to be fixed, but that would have been enough.

What are your stats in the chopper? They probably suck, in fact you are probably the guy that created the two alcorr hating characters named Alcorr_Sucks and Alcorr_Heli_Wh0re, really what ARE your stats?

I found pilot's armament to be useless because I usually circle around an outpost and let gunner to do their job.
