Redux' movie was inspirational - Before watching it I spent 50 hours in a chopper, almost all of it piloting. I never really did the TV guided missle thing, and with quite a bit of offline/near-empty kubra servers practice I've gotten quite good at it. I'm sick of gunners waisting my time. If I can't get someone who knows what they're doing I'll happily do the job myself. Call me an *******, but I've wasted too much time hovering in front of the crane on sharqi that has the last remaining sniper on it while my gunner is looking at the sunset. :p

Although I get lots of lag when using the TV guided missles. Sometimes i click on a target and it doesn't seem to register so my missle just flies off in some random direction. Help, anyone? :|:

Another thing - In most of those TV guided show-off movies the pilots seem to be able to launch the missle immediatley after switching. I get quite a delay before being able to shoot (Although you can counter the effect of your chopper veering off the to right by simply turning to the left before switching to gunner)

Hu.z Is right, using missles against infantry is pretty much a waste and a hazard. (although not entirely impossible)

im a pretty good pilot that needs a good gunner rather that some noobs out there. BUT MAKE SURE YOU GUNNERS PRESS C to get rid of the chopper dash board

And actually buy some glasses so you can see people. Is it that hard to see enemies running around? Do you have to stare at the same spot constantly when there's an enemy chopper coming the other way? Do you have to wait untill I'm hovering 20 cm in front of an enemies face before you start shooting?

I have no problems with a gunner who isn't experienced - If he just has some common sense. It's not easy using tv guided missles against other choppers, And I'm more than willing to help someone practice, but don't waste my time

I'm good with the TV's, probably already knew. But, I love using the cannons.. lol. So many people SUCK balls with the cannons.. you need to shoot in 5-10 shot bursts, and I can actually AIM with the cannon. DON'T USE THE RETICULE TO AIM! You have to look at where the bullets are landing... and after a while you get used to the physics and you can just land a shot wherever you want... even if the pilot is strafing like crazy and doing all that.

I like when pilots slowly strafe left/right when i'm gunning... as long as its a smooth strafe.

Choppers are overpowered NOW? NOW after any and every AA missile hits them 99.999% of the time, and even using flares they still hit alot of the time?

NOW, they lost so much armor, FAVs can laugh at them every time they explode...it was so easy before the HP nerf...

NOW, the tv missile range is lessened and less missiles...and you STILL call them overpowered, wow what a noob...

I just recently took a poll on what the most difficult vehicle to use and be effective with and choppers won over armor like 50:1 vote ratio and still beat jets....

Honestly, so many people just plain suck in them, it amazes me how you can say that, especially after the uneeded 4 way chopper nerf, missiles needed to be fixed, but that would have been enough.

What are your stats in the chopper? They probably suck, in fact you are probably the guy that created the two alcorr hating characters named Alcorr_Sucks and Alcorr_Heli_Wh0re, really what ARE your stats?

Well why don't you take a look at my stats then. My ID is scrat15.
I have hit a cobra in the cockpit with a tank round and overheated the 7.62 at it... and it smokes.
This is why the heli dude will always be in the top three, and why everyone crowds around the pad trying to get in it so desparately.

I looked at your stats, since it's become like this. Do you use a chopper often? If so, you must really suck somewhere because you're KD is not much further than mine and I do not purposefully go for vehicles.

And as for the talk in this thread about the challenges of TV missiles... What's the big deal? I had a go today and took out 2 tanks in a row.
Have a go at sniping guys, and not camping. There you have a challenge.

Tips for helo pilots and gunners:

1. You may not like this, but even for my machine (see sig) I have turned down the graphics and textures in favor of draw distance. All you need is a moving dark figure with red text over his name. You don't need to see that he has a snagged thread on his left shoulder.

2. When using missiles as the gunner, move the cursor back to the center of the TV imaging screen when you have no new target acquired. That way when you switch back to TV missiles from the chaingun you already have a reference point to immediately adjust and fire. Trying to reacquire the target with your cursor anywhere else is a headache.

3. As the pilot, keep an eye on your gunner's view (the sliding horizontal HUD image). When you hear him shooting at something with the chaingun and you can't see the target, immediately check which direction his view is facing. Move to cover or quickly turn to bear the nose of the helo on that area. He should be able to immediately reacquire the target.

Last night in a Gulf of Oman server I had a gunner who would shoot the missile instantly the moment his view passed over a target, even things I wasn't lining him up for, and hit them. Choppers, tanks, 3-4 planes (1 MiG, 2-3 SU-34), AA positions. It was great. Unfortunately our air cover wasn't that great so we still got shot down a few times by slow approaching planes.

Yeh the T.V. missile can be very satisfying if you keep your cool with the control and get hits like that.
