    Arrghh...my game disk is scratched....

Ok, I have drives for a RAID 0 setup on the way, and was collecting stuff last night just so I know where it all is. Picked up my BF2 game disk and there is a quarter inch gouge on the backside right through the media down to the clear plastic. Arrgh, game over. How the hell am I gonna re-install now???

Now for all the reading challenged out there who will accuse me of whatever please read: I HAVE a cd key, I have everything I need BUT my disk is ruined for install (it starts the game just fine)

    Any suggestions?

Yes. Stop using your install disks to balance wobbly table legs.

    just kidding.

You can probably buy a used or discount copy from online or a game store. You run the risk of a used CD key, but that's a risk you might have to take. Besides, BF2 has been out for 9 months, so the price has to be about $40 now.

If you have a friend who works in a video game store just have him exchange your copy for one of the used copys in the store and then have him defect the damaged CD out so no one gets screwed.

You bought the game, downloading backups is legal. Just download an image file and map it to a virtual drive.

I would contact EA. If you have the receipt, just send them the disk & I am sure they will send you a new one. Its the Limited Lifetime warranty! Tell them the situation & I see no reason why they wont mail you a new copy. You may have to pay for S&H, but thats about 5 bucks!

No, if you own it, then it is not illegal.

Get the image file. That's what I did for NFS:MW when my disk broke and they didn't help me at all. In fact, it came to my house broken, so it was their fault anyway. If you own the game, you can get the image. You paid for it, that's all they care about. One less disk they have to replace due to scratches. Just don't get into a habit of downloading all kinds of stuff illegally.

Unless you bypass any copy protection to do so. Which you would have to, so yes it is ilegal.

I reccomend everyone be familiar with the DMCA.

Just use Nickelgf's link and get some fresh disks instead of getting into illegal downloads.

You could also borrow a friend's disk.

I recommend getting a mini-disk image from gamecopyworld, and get daemon tools to run it
